We stayed 5 nights at this hotel, 2 adults, 2 kids. The location is ideal, in the old Plaka neighborhood, central to everything around. We walked to all the attractions from there. The location is highly recommended.

Onto the hotel itself: It's an old, small and modest hotel, with lots of charm, for an authentic experience. However, depending on where in the hotel your room is, your experience can go from good to horrible (hence the very contrasting reviews). The old staircase by the hotel reception leads to the older part of the hotel, it's quite and the rooms are spacious and nicer. If you book this hotel, ask for a room in that section. Down the hall way from the reception takes you through the kitchens and up a modern looking set of stairs. Those rooms are smaller and not as nice. Avoid first floor room at all cost, as they're close to the open kitchen, which opens in the early am for breakfast preparation. It gets very noisy. We spent the first night in the noisy section, then asked to be moved and were given a room in the older section.

The staff are very welcoming, nice and helpful. Five stars there. John was especially helpful. (Thank you John!)

Overall, a great and pleasant experience, but an old hotel that for the price we paid, should have been better.

Room tip: Avoid first floor (by kitchens) - Ask for a room in the "old" section of the hotel.

Extremely loud hotel, cannot sleep past 6. Might just have been my room (110?), stay away if you want to sleep. Room was next to kitchen, lobby and utility area. Plates were being washed nonstop, and random French music blasting in the lobby could be heard from the room starting at 6...

This hotel is in a great location. An easy walk to Syntagma Square, the Plaka, the subway and the Acropolis. It was a wonderful surprise, the first night, when I went out on the little balcony and I could see the Acropolis lite up on the hill.

We were there during a terrible heat wave. One day when we returned our air conditioning was not working. Panic. The person at the front desk got us help immediately and we had a comfortable room with an hour.

The breakfast was quite good as well.

This was our least favorite hotel in Greece. It was clean but lacked much real charm. We were in a family room and the arrangement was very awkward. I hadn't thought that stairs were going to be a problem but climbing the 62 steps up to our room after long hot afternoons out exploring the city was not fun. Breakfast was good but I never got my coffee until we were finished eating and the others in the family were anxious to get on with the day while I was still waiting for it to cool enough to drink. So, nothing really bad but just not as good compared to our other hotel experiences.

A very nice hotel in the Plaka district. Perfect for spending some days in Athens. Walking distance to the Acropolis, and to nice restaurants and bars. The staff was very helpful and gave us great advices for visiting the city. The hotel is kind of "old-stylish", very charming.
