Just a short walk from Syntagma Square. Very close to the Acropolis and the new museum. Quiet street with a short walk to shops, cafes and the rooftop movie theatre, which was excellent....and has a full bar!! Wifi was only in the lobby area but was very comfortable to do so. The hotel and rooms were very clean and had the classic feeling of Greece, with antiques, old photos, etc...not a western renovation!! The staff was so helpful with maps, ideas, and suggestions. The room price won hands down to anything else in the area!!

Okay, rather than excellent in a 5-star luxury way, Hotel Acropolis House is excellent in having character (olives & oranges from the owner's property), exceptional staff, the perfect location for both quiet and access to the sites (we could see the Acropolis from our balcony), value (55 euros), and the little things (good library of both vacation reads and travel maps and guides). The staff knows everything about storing luggage (we took a 3-day bus tour) and figuring out ferry tickets and schedules. Andreas gave us tips for good restaurants. Jasmine prepared us for the next stop on our trip, Crete. The location just inside Plaka was incredibly convenient while surprising quiet. We generally don't need much help from hotel staff; we really needed a lot here, and we received excellent service.

Room Tip: Both our rooms were fine.

The hotel is very small but nice and cozy, built on a 200 years old house. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. They gave us lots of advises and and helped us getting to where we needed.
Location is almost impossible to match: near bus and metro stations, close to restaurants, shops and right by the Acropolis.

Superb location, with most helpful and friendly service, delightful atmosphere. Breakfast included their own oranges and olives, delicious! Some street noise in the evening, but excellent value for money. Clean and tidy, no frills; use of a big fridge was a plus. We'll be back!

We spend 4 nights in Hotel Acropolis House during our trip in March and we liked it.
When we booked it there was a special offer, if you book 3 days you get the fourth free of charge, so we paid only 165 Euros for a double bed room with private bathroom and breakfast and it was very reasonable price for it (honestly I think summer price is too much).
It is a simple accommodation near Plaka and Syntagma square close to all sights, we were able to walk everywhere.
Four our surprise we got a room with a balcony and a little view to Acropolis (sy recommend this room here earlier).
Hotel location maybe is not so nice (there is a parking spot next to it), but I think it is totally safety.
The room and a bathroom was old, but cosy. Hot water and heating were always available.
The breakfast was simple (roll, toast, hard boiled eggs, olives, orange, butter, jam, tea and coffee), but enough for us.
I had only problems with an extra blanket from the wardrobe, it didn't have fresh odour and sometimes heard couple of next door during the night...
Hotel staff was really great and very helpful, according to me the best, who I met in the last 5 years.
They recommended us the closest restaurant (I think its name is a flower name) for dinner, we tried it, but didn't find the food so delicious.
I think if you are a traveller with low budget and looking for a simple accommodation in central location Hotel Acropolis House is your hotel.

We got a great deal on the hotel room, stay 3 nights get the 4th night free on the hotel website. Of course, we did go during off season. I would recommend going on the hotel website to see if they are offering some sort of deal though. Good price, great location, wonderful and helpful staff. We were supposed to have a double bed and ended up with a double and a single, which was nice. We had requested a balcony and got one. It was a small balcony which was over the alley, but it was nice to sit out there at night and relax. It was a little loud at night if people were out in the alley. I suggest bringing ear plugs for your travels. It is definitely an older building, but that was already expected by the reviews I read on here. The room was pretty cramped but so are most budget hotels in Europe. There was no lift, but we were on the second floor so it wasn't a real problem. There was free wifi, downstairs in the morning and afternoon. It was a great location, of an alley way in the Plaka. A lot of restaurants and shop in this area and a close walk to the Acropolis and many other restaurants. The staff was excellent. Yannis, who was working at the desk during the mornings while we were there was great. He helped answer all our questions, whether it was about a good place to eat, sites we must see, directions, the best way to get to the airport, or if we are supposed to tip the wait staff at restaurants, if he didn't already know the answer he would find out for us. This was our first place we staying on our trip, so it was nice to have someone who spoke fluent English to help us out with all our questions. The breakfast was fine; bread, oranges, olives, jam, coffee, and hard boiled eggs. All the staff was really friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Athens.

Don't expect a booking for one night to be honoured. We arrived straight off the flight to find they had bumped us to a grim hotel round the corner. Apparently there was a problem with the hotel services which rendered the top two floors unusable but we checked later and several lights were on and guests were coming and going so it must have been a ploy to get rid of us as we were only staying one night and they probably got a better offer. That was supposed to be our one and only special night in Athens and it was ruined. I booked it ages ago in good faith. They didn't even do a phone-round for another hotel for me. It was the gloomy fleapit down the road or nothing. Sling your hook. Don't go there and don't believe the guide books.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Acropolis House is a preserved mansion of the last century, in excellent condition. It is consisted essentially of two different buildings together. The oldest of these is a stone manor house about 120 years old and the other is well-built four-floor building of 75 years. In 1965 it was modified to a hotel from the family Choudalakis, which operates since. Generally the hotel is a two star family business with character, providing security and full service to both families, and unique people who respect the identity of the hotel. In total the hotel has comfortable single, double and large rooms for families. The Hotel Acropolis House has a non smoking policy in all areas. Guests may smoke in the terrace of the first floor. Hotel Acropolis House is located at the gates of Plaka having so the advantage of being close to all the interesting places without the disadvantage of the hustle of the people and vehicles visiting the site. It is situated in a stunning location, either for professional or tourist as it is a 10-minute walk from the monument of Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum, 3 minutes from Syntagma Square and the metro / bus and 2 minutes from the commercial and business center of Athens. Near the hotel there are parking, museums, pharmacies and the tourist information office. The hotel has a breakfast room, which served continental style breakfast very early in the morning for early morning flights (from 07.30 Until 10.30). There is luggage storage and safe for customers. Finally, Hotel Acropolis House has a library, with a rich collection, to borrow books from. This is himself occasionally enriched by the customers. ... more   less
