This was our first visit to Greece, and was our honeymoon. The stay at Intercontinental was beautiful, needless to say. Starting with the buffet breakfast, it wasa a wide spread with some live counters that cater to every palate. The check-in was smooth and pleasant to have a guest relations officer speak to us. We had chosen rooms with Acropolis view (on the 7th floor), with King Size beds. The view was spectacular and worth every buck. Staff was very curteous, though we wish we could get complimentary WiFi. We have visited a host of restaurants and stayed at over 3 places in Greece, and every one of them did provide us with this service. Nevertheless, some of the featured at this hotel is amazing, especially the shuttle service which picks and drops you off from the hotel to Syntagma square every 30 mins (during peak hours). Taxis are avaialable right outside the hotel. Need to be a bit careful while in the evening, as this place can get very lonely - the hotel is right on Syngrou Avenue, with high-speed traffic in both directions.

Room Tip: Check the Acropolis view roosm on 7th floor, worth the buck!! Also try to pick a breakfast inclusive...

This is a world-class hotel with all the amenities you'd expect. You can stay here and feel like your needs are being met by the very professional and courteous staff. Some nice shops and a friendly business center. My only complaint - if a complaint - is that they tend to charge for everything, including WIF, which I feel is higher than most hotels in this category. Rooms are spacioius and cleans with relaxing tubs and bathroom facilities. There is a convenient shuttle bus that takes you to Sintagma square which is the heart of Athens. The area that it's in is the only oddity, it being a working class residential area, but it is rapidly changing and just a stone's throw away is the FIX subway station, which is being redeveloped as we speak.

This is our 2nd visit to the IC and its as great as ever. I just love this hotel , its has such a calm feeling to it. The club lounge is comfortable and relaxing, take breakfast on the balcony with great views of the Acropolis. We had an upgrade to room with Acropolis view, what a sight in the morning! The rooms are very spacious with seating area (sofa and easy chair) plus desk and work chair. Large bath room with lovely toiletries from Coors.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. We arrived late but were able to have a meal in the Vienna bar which stays open until midnight. Food wasn't cheap but not outragous either , worth paying a slight premium for the convenience.

Seems to be a hotel catering to business travelers. We loved it, especially since we got it at a really great price through Priceline. The service was excellent, but I think they are trying to make up for the lower prices with kind of ridiculous prices on water, soda and other incidentals.

Very nice rooms. Get the good price, bring your own water and buy food from outside and eat it by the pool. The high prices on the incidentals are why I reduced my rating.

My wife and I stayed there for a business conference. The hotel is rather old but still in good condition. Some of the rooms are being revamped to become more modern. There is a small pool which is nice to relax in. The gym is 24 hours with key access which is great. They also have a nice spa and very nice rooftop bar. Service is good and the food is quite good as well. Location is my that great. Far from downtown and not much to walk around. It's good for business conventions or similar events but for a vacation I wouldn't stay there.

Stayed for a conference. The hotel is exquisite, but not worth the price you pay. The extras are herendously expensive. I only have cereal for breakfast, which cost €35. To launder one underpant costs €9,and the prices just go up from there. Unless you are super rich, steer clear!

Dear TripAdvisor Reader,

Thank you for staying with us while attending a conference in Athens last month and for sharing your feedback. With regard to your comment about the cost of breakfast, we would like to clarify that the charge of Euro 34.50 applies when one serves oneself from the breakfast buffet (both hot and cold options) which includes over 100 items. Alternatively, if one has only a bowl of cereal, the cost is Euro 8. Moreover, may we add that our charges for breakfast and laundry are in line with our competitor hotels in Athens. Once again, we thank you for your valuable comments and look forward to welcoming you back to the Athenaeum InterContinental on your next visit to our city.

I stayed here on a mixture of business and pleasure. Service was excellent and the hotel was very clean. Great for business with all the usual facilities you would expect from an InterContinental Hotel (although as always in hotels some of these facilities can be a bit expensive).

Spa facilities make relaxation time a pure delight and of course as you would expect in a country such as Greece the outdoor pool is another way to relax when away from business.

Would not probably be the idea hotel for a family holiday, even though not far from many family attractions. There are a few local restaurants, serving very good food, meaning you can avoid the high costs of the hotel restaurant.

The best thing is that it is just a short courtesy bus ride away from the centre of Athens and all the history of the ancient city.
