“AMAZING VALUE”
Reviewed November 13, 2010

Let me start by saying that this hotel is located right in Syntagma Square, so you are literally steps from the train, bus, plaka, shops, restaurants, the Acropolis, etc. There is a beautiful rooftop garden that seems to always be open and is perfect at night- you can see all of Athens lit up.

ROOM- Our room had a huge tub, towel warmers, double sinks, safe, two big very comfortable beds, and our patio had the BEST VIEW- it looked straight out over the National Gardens across the street- amazing.

If you are worried about noise, don't be. The windows I think are double-paned and we were never kept awake.

The price is also incredible for the location. We payed the same per night to stay in a hotel that was a 20minute tram ride from Athens and there we were kept awake by parties and traffic, plus the room was small and the breakfast was bad.

The breakfast at Amalia is fantastic!!! You make your own espresso drinks, everything is fresh and delicious, the bougatsa is the best we had in Greece! Very nice.

There is also a free computer to use in the lobby that I never had to wait in line to use. The staff helped us set up tours and were always courteous. Room service did not take exceptionally long, but was VERY good and reasonably priced.

Overall this hotel is a perfect place to stay and will totally cut down on your travel time if you are going to be doing a lot of sightseeing. You can walk almost anywhere from here!

We caught the bus X95 outside the airport exit doors, turn right and buy ticket at bus booth. 3.20 Euros each. Get off at the last stop, Syntigma Square, when you desembark walk left up to the corner then turn right and Amalia is 100 metres on your right. We did the same going back to the airport so easy!! Include buffet breakfast worth it and free internet at hotel. Central to walking to the Double Decker Bus which is the best way to see the city. Especially get off at the meat market real interesting. The New Acropolis Museum a must 10 euros so amazing also walking distance from hotel as well as Plaka Market. We also organised day trip to Delphi through Viator (Chat Tours) which picks up from the hotel 3 hours from the city and well worth it the museum a must to do there too and thats me a non museum person who thought it was amazing. We couldn't have picked a better place to see Athens.

I, my wife and 2 year old daughter spent 5 nights at Amalia Hotel.
The Hotel is centrally located right in the heart of Athens. Opposite of the Hotel is
the National Garden and a few meters to the left the Syntagma Square.
We asked for a room facing the National Garden and the Syntagma Square, the view
was really nice but Amalia avenue is really busy and you could here the noise from the cars during the night even with the windows closed. Of-course we had no problem with the noise and i was aware of the noise before asking a room facing the main road.
Our room was spacious with a flat tv , very comfortable beds and above all very clean.
The bathroom was as well clean and spacious.
Generally the hotel is really nice, modern decoration, clean and most of the staff are friendly and very helpful. Every time we asked for directions or any other information they where happy to assist us.
There is free wireless connection on the ground and middle floor but you can also get free high speed internet with wire in the rooms. There is a cable in the room you can connect your laptop. Just ask for the password at the reception. There is also a computer in the lobby area with a printer and the internet is free as well.
Breakfast was more that enough for us. Everything was tasty and fresh. The staff at the breakfast where very friendly and very nice with our child.
The Hotel met our expectations and we will stay here again when we return
to Athens!

Three nights at the Amalia in Athens at the end of a 19-day trip, a primo hotel in a great location a block from the Syntagma and changing of the guard. Clean, newish and comfortable. Walking distance to all the city center. Great breakfasts too. We booked and prepaid way ahead so got value for our Euro as well.
Busy place though; this hotel serves groups on tour.

It is a modern 4 star hotel, comfortable one, with great location near Syntagma Square (close to Acropolis). Lot of my collegues stay here when doing business in Athens and we all have good opinion about it. Rooms are big enough, breakfast is very good. Only thing against is when you'll get the room from Amalia Ave. side, make sure you have noise blockers i n your ears (if you do not have stron solid sleep) - cars are driving there all night long.

As a solo traveller, I spent 2 nights at this hotel. It is located just a block away from the Syntagma Metro station and the stop for the Airport Express bus, both easy accesses to the airport. The Parliament Building and National Gardens are across the street, with the Temple of Zeus just a few minutes walk away. The Acropolis is no more than a 10 minute walk, while the Plaka district is even closer. During my stay here, I had no need for transportation of any sort...my feet did all the work very easily!

My room (a single) had two twin beds, a desk, chair, dresser and television. The bed was clean and comfortable. The washroom was very roomy and clean, and the water pressure in the shower was good. It was still very hot in September and the air conditioner in the room worked well. I have no complaints. Breakfast was included in my room package. This was easily the most delicious breakfast I had during my Greek holiday! There was so much variety, both Greek and North American, but I strongly advise you to try the Greek yogurt and honey...there is nothing like this back home! After eating this breakfast, I found no need to eat again until well into the afternoon.

The staff at this hotel were always courteous and helpful. All public areas were clean and well kept. The decor is modern, the lobby chairs are comfortable, and the rates for the rooms are reasonable and worth the cost. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Athens.

Amalia hotel is in a fantastic location right on Amalias Avenue in Athens. Across the road from the National Gardens and Parliament House, around the corner from Syntegma Square (and the X95 airport bus) and out the front are taxis, trams and the local buses. Most importantly (to the girls) is that Athens' famous shopping districts of Ermou Street and the Plaka are only 5 minutes walk away. The hotel is very clean and modern and the rooms are big for European standards. Although it sits on busy Amalias Avenue, street noise isn't a problem. The staff are friendly and the breakfast buffet is huge. Free internet is available on a computer in the lobby. This has to be the best priced hotel for it's location and it's location couldn't be better for seeing all the shopping sights, National Gardens and the Acropolis which are all within walking distance as are the restaurants of Plaka and Monastraki. You can also catch the local buses (no. 2, 4, 6, 7 or 11) across the road from the hotel which will take you to the fabulous Archelogical Museum. Wouldn't hesitate in picking this hotel again on my next stay in Athens - or recommending it.
