“Excellent business hotel with unparalleled service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

I was in Athens for a week of business in September 2012. The Amalia Hotel is located very conveniently both near the government buildings and the Acropolis (tourist site).

The stay was very pleasant and I have no complaint whatsoever. But what prompt me to write this review is the hotel staff's unparalleled service while I was there, and more importantly even after I had left:

In January 2013, 4 months after my stay at Amalia, I realised that I needed the hotel lounge receipts (3 of them) in order to have my claims processed by my company. The figure wasn't a lot, but money is money, so I emailed to the hotel, thinking there is very little chance that they would even care... after all I am not a VIP guest.

To my very pleasant surprise, Mr Nikos, the Asst. Hotel Manager promptly emailed me back scanned copies of the lounge receipts! No fuzz and no questions asked! If this is not great service, then I don't know what is.

Had a great stay at the Amalia. The staff were very lovely and helpful. The location is fantastic and is within walking distance to all the major sites and shopping/food streets of Athens. The rooms were large and very clean. Plus it was quiet so we slept well. The breakfast selection was ok but sometimes a little cold (particularly the eggs) which was the only negative. Wifi worked well. Would stay again.

Clean, easy & quick to find upon arrival from the airport by bus (to Syntagma). Perfect location for all the sighseeings: Acropoli, Kolonaki, Lykabetus, Ermou, Plaka, Psiri. Clean. Fast room service. Professional & fast reception. Good breakfast.

Room Tip: ask for inside rooms to feel more quiet

Overwhole price/quality ratio of this hotel is good. Nice and clean rooms. Good international breakfast buffet. Hotel is located in the center of the city at 200 mtrs from the central metro station Syntagma. Reaching the hotel from the airport you can take the metro and get out at this metrostation (Syntagma) which costs you 1,80 euro a ticket.
Try to get a map of the metro system: sometimes the signs in the metro display only the Greek names. Taxis from the airport to the center have a fixed price of 35 euro...

A good hotel, with excellent breakfasts. Room 605 was beautiful , junior suite on top floor with good views over the gardens. Definitely stay here again. Good position, walking distance to everything. Could see the changing of the guards at the Parliament. Definitely recomment.

Stayed at the Amalia Hotel from December 24 - December 31st. Here are the pros and cons.

PROS:

Centrally located and within walking distance to the major attractions
Knowledgeable front desk staff
Up the street from Bus X95
Chat Tours starting point / pick up (ie: Day trip to Delphi, 3 island cruise, etc.)
Good selection for breakfast (hot and cold)
Clean
Reasonably priced.

CONS:

Can't think of any.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.
