Stayed here with my partner in early August. Overall we found this hotel to be very good. Situated on a quiet street in a central location. The staff were very welcoming, pleasant and helpful. Public areas are spacious and well laid out. Our room was large, well designed and we found the beds to be very comfortable. The pool, whilst small, was a welcome oasis from the heat of the city. Located within walking distance of the major sites including the relatively new and excellent Acropolis Museum and the neighbourhoods of Plaka and Monasteraki. No wi-fi connectivity in rooms is a problem for conference/business travellers. Breakfast was reasonably varied but poor coffee and concentrated fruit juices makes it expensive at 20€pp. The roof terrace has great views of the Acropolis but again drinks here are on the expensive side. Having stayed in a number of hotels in Athens for both business and pleasure, I believe this to be one of the best in this price range. With a few tweaks I feel the Divani Acropolis could be a great hotel. I look forward to my return.

I have stayed at the Divani Acropolis Palace many times over the years and always enjoyed the location and accommodations, which I felt were four-star even though theoretically rated five. Of course, the location at the foot of the Acropolis and just a stroll away from the new Acropolis Museum and Plaka is still great. But deferred maintenance is about to bring the property down to three-star range. Halls and rooms are going shabby, air-conditioning is iffy and sometimes seemed to shut down entirely in the evening. Public areas are nice, the small pool is pretty, the view from some rooms and the roof terrace is great, breakfast buffer is good, desk staff are pleasant and helpful. But it's time to spend some money on the rooms and infrastructure . . . or see continued deterioration.

Room Tip: Only some rooms have view of Acropolis . . . so ask in advance. No wireless in rooms. Do not depend on room air-conditioning.

We spent a week in the Divani Palace Acropolis. We had a mixed experience.
Pros: The service was excellent, and the hotel is well-staffed. They cheerfully made reservations for us at Orizontes (see my other review) and called numerous taxis for us. The pool, while not large, was convenient, clean, and refreshing. They also have poolside bar and food service. The breakfast area has a view of the ruins of the Thermistoclean Wall and is bright and spacious. Our room was well maintained and the balcony had a partial view of the Acropolis. The best thing about the hotel is its extremely convenient location near the Acropolis and Plaka. It is a short walk to most of the key ancient sites. It is also very near the Acropolis Metro station. The rooftop restaurant was luxurious, with a splendid view of the Acropolis, but quite expensive.

Cons: The breakfast was, by American standards, mediocre. Not terrible, and it is clear that they tried to please many palates. But the coffee was Nescafe, the orange juice tasted like Tang, and the scrambled eggs were powdered. Stick with the excellent Greek yogurt with honey and nuts and the fresh fruit. While there is free wi-fi in the lobby, it was spotty and there was no wi-fi in our room. Not a terrible inconvenience for a tourist, but not good for business travelers. Strangely, all the furniture was so low to the ground I felt like it was a hobbit hotel. By far the worst thing about this hotel is the MATTRESSES. They are apparently Soviet Gulag surplus and it felt like trying to sleep right on a boxspring. I would rather sleep in a gravel parking lot. Neither of us could get a good night's sleep because of these prison mattresses. If the hotel got some new mattresses, I would stay here again, but otherwise it is a deal breaker.

Within walking distance of all significant sights, 5 minutes to the Acropolis, 2 minutes to the Museum and Plaka...a cool pool, perfect for relaxation after sightseeing...lovely staff and good food. Cannot praise highly enough

Room Tip: We overlooked the street with a side view of the Acropolis, furniture antique quality not 'old'
