Quiet area super close to centre and other eateries and akropolis train station. BEDS were very comfy and firm. Very clean rooms. Nice lobby lounge. Breakfast was healthy and plenty. Air con was sufficient but you had to mess with the settings a little. Staff very friendly and helpful.we had some view of the acropolis which was awesome from the balcony. Very Safe Neighborhood. Laundry service was very efficient and cheap.

Very conveniently located with a view to Acropolis museum and 5 minutes walk to Acropolis metro station. Wi-Fi works great and could be negotiated to provide free Wi-Fi. They even offered 4th night free. Breakfast is pretty good and staff is very helpful. Our room for a family of three was a bit small but you are in Athens for site seeing so good breakfast, clean room and location was what we were looking for.
Extra bed in room for 3rd person was not convenient though.

Room Tip: Room on higher floors with a view to Acropolis

We have stayed here as a family overnight for the past two years. There is no more convenient location for the Acropolis, the Plaka district - and to pick up a hire car at Syngrou, an avenue full of all the regular companies. This year I stayed for a week because of an international conference which was centred on the Acropolis Museum and the Plaka. The convenience of the place could not have been better.
This is a small hotel, which has a sister hotel within 100m called the Herodion, which we have visited, and where facilities are shared for dinner. So if you want have your dinner, you walk up the road and take it there.
The family rooms are excellent; two rooms en suite and just right for parents and two teenagers. Ours had a stunning view looking up to the Parthenon on the Acropolis and the kids slept out on the balcony to enjoy a spectacular view at dawn.
My room for the week was definitely small, but quite adequate for single use, and the view was into the courtyard, quiet and private, and ok for sleeping when the world of Athens is essentially outdoors anyway. The internet was a bit erratic, but helpful advice was on hand for a Mac user.
Prices are good value for a family and moderate for a single occupancy. The breakfast was generous, and the friendliness was as good as anywhere. including Ireland where we live where the hospitality is legendary... So all in all a very worthwhile place to stay in a busy busy city

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Acropolis

July, 2013: During a recent visit to Greece, including a stay in Athens before heading to the islands, we stayed several nights at the Philippos Hotel. The staff at the Philippos Hotel were friendly, very welcoming, accommodating, and thoughtfully helpful. The hotel is very well situated - on a quiet street, just a couple of blocks from the busy Acropolis area with a fantastic view of the Acropolis and ideally located for walking to the Acropolis, the museum, and nearby restaurants, including a terrific bakery and To Kati Allo just around the corner. Also within walking distance is the Acropolis Metro station, Temple of Olympian Zeus, the National Gardens, the Parliament Bldg, the Plaka, the Monastiraki, & Syntagmna Square. We found the best way to see the City was to set out on foot - easily done from the Philippos Hotel. Our hotel room, including the bathroom was very clean and well maintained. The balcony, with a stunning view of the Acropolis, particularly in the evening, but also for breakfast, was spacious with a table and chairs and loungers. A great way to start and end each day! Each afternoon upon returning to our room after a day about the City, we found it clean, refreshed, and welcoming. The beds and pillows were clean, comfortable (for Greece) and the rooms quite quiet and restful. The staff was very helpful and friendly throughout our stay, including readily making the arrangements for our taxis to Port and, later when we returned from the islands for one additional night, to the airport. The gentlemen at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. The woman who takes care of the breakfast area in the morning was extremely pleasant and when I explained the children were still sleeping each morning she kindly helped me put together a tray to bring back to the room with coffee for us; juice and breakfast for the children when they woke. She did this with a smile and complete understanding! The staff greeted us each morning when we set out and with genuine sincerity welcomed us back each afternoon and evening. When we called a couple days later after realizing we had left one of the children's items behind in oversight, they readily mailed it to us at our next destination in Greece. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Athens, in no small part due to the welcoming and ideally located Philippos Hotel. We look forward to returning!

Stayed there with my family in August.. (hot, hot, hot) the ac didn't work so sleeping the first night was unbearable!!! When asked to move to another room we were moved to a room for that night and had to pack or bags so they can move us to a 3rd room. Three nights , three different rooms...that were all horrible and warm.not to mention we spent a good hour of our morning each day repackaging and rearranging ready to be moved...also our second room had a big cockroach waiting for us in the bathroom..had to call down to get that taken care of.
They give you 30 min of free WiFi for your entire stay...Goes fast...the least they can do is offer free WiFi for their hot , tinY rooms!!
FOR THE PRICE FIND A BETTER HOTEL!! You'll thank me !!!

I was disappointed and saddened to hear that your stay was not a pleasant one. We had a staff meeting today and we all apologize for your obvious distress.

I investigated and noticed that the cooling problem occurred and mentioned at your first triple room and the receptionist offered you instead a double and a single room for the same price as well as free wifi for all three nights. Your parents did not express such a discomfort and expressed their satisfaction to the reception and breakfast staff during your family stay.

We have reviewed your comments with our team and they assure me they are committed to redouble their efforts to be alert to guests in need and extend themselves at every opportunity.

We stayed at the Phillipos Hotel for 3 days and could enjoy nice view of the Acropolis from our room and balcony. Very spacious, clean and confortable.
Breakfast was good enough, and there was some Greek food (Greek yogurt etc)
The hotel staff was helpful.
The location of the hotel was very convenient since it was very close to the Acropolis Metro station and it was close to most sightseeing sights in Athens but for some reasons it was very quiet and looked safe.

On the negative side, the bathtub was quite small, and the air conditioning was not good maybe because it's old.

But overall, I think it's a very good hotel and would like to stay there again if we go to Athens next time.

Room Tip: 周りに同じくらいの高さの建物が多いので、アクロポリスをしっかり見たいならば予約時に最上階をリクエストすることをお勧めします。 We reccomend you to request a room...

I stayed at thh Philippos for two nights in June 2013 with my two children, 13 and 10. The hotel was terrific in all respects.

The location was perfect, just off the main buzz of the Acropolis area and nestled in the backstreets so there was no street noise. We felt that we were in cozy little neighborhood.

The room was perfect. It had a large balcony. It was clean and the beds were just like all the other beds in Greece, hard! But Americans are used to soft beds and this was not a problem. Even the bathroom had an Acropolis view! At night, if I left the curtain open and lay my head on the pillow I could see the Acropolis all lit up. What a way to fall asleep!

Breakfast was terrific, with the usual breads, cheeses, yogurts and excellent coffee!

Our flight was very early on the morning of departure and the wonderful staff prepared a little something early for the kids so they would not be miserable. I've never had that before.

Spiros at the front desk was the best and very helpful getting the internet going for this family who can not be unplugged!

Stay at the Philippos, you will not be disappointed!
