I should have did my review right after my return. Now, memory has me leaving a brief review. During my trip to Athens, I spent the most time at this hotel. I remember the breakfast being tasty and the front desk staff being pleasant.

Unfortunately, when traveling for business, location is a non-negotiable and you're stuck with the only available hotel in the area. If you can, choose something else closer to the attractions as this is a residential area and there is a LOT of traffic around going in any direction.

Positives:
- Better than the 1 or 2 star options in the area
- Quiet if facing away from the main road
- Coffee shops and grocery store across the street

Negatives:
- Half hour walk to most attractions through a rather shabby neighborhood. Nothing to see at all.
- No good restaurants around, you'll have to either go towards the centre or north east
- Dated rooms
- Questionable heating & cooling depending on room and time of year
- One of the slowest reception staff I have ever seen, be prepared for 45 minutes waits if there's even one person in front of you
- Traffic prone area. Every time I've had a taxi called or Uber, I'll be waiting for 15 minutes minimum
- Breakfast is rather tasteless with questionable options for both local foods and standard breakfast fare
- One of the saddest and worst fitness rooms I have yet to see. The one elliptical was sticky and everything else was dirty and dusty. No free weights, no mats.
- You have to call in advance if you want to use the sauna. Not very hot either.

Dear Dr D,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

Athens Zafolia Hotel is in the center of Athens, specifically on Alexandras Ave., one of the major and central Avenues of the city. Our location offers easy access not only to all historic attractions, but to important business and medical areas of the city as well.

We understand that you did not have the chance to be informed by our staff, how easy is to reach by bus the heart of the historic center or the metro station, as bus stops with buses going directly there, are located outside the hotel.

Unfortunately, traffic is a factor that none city center hotel can avoid and some days might be busier than usual.

As your stay was in January, please be informed that from then and on all the hotel has been fully renovated and changed to a modern and luxurious one.

We are sorry that your overall experience was not as smooth and comfortable as we would expect it. All your comments have been noted and we are always taking actions to improve our facilities and services.

Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to welcoming you again in the future and offer you the level of hospitality that our hotel is known for.

Kind regards,
Guest Relations Department

It was a little cool in October but besides that the hotel was wonderful. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy, city view from suite with balcony is amazing, beautiful sunsets! Local coffee shops and stores within walking distance. Well recommended if staying in Athens!

We were here on a Globus tour, otherwise I probably would not have chosen this location because it is far from the sites that we wanted to see (Acropolis, Plaka). That being said, there is a metro stop, about a 10-15 minute walk away so we used the metro to travel back and forth to Syntagma Square and Acropolis stops. We had no issues taking the metro several times and found a few helpful locals to help us navigate in the beginning as well, so the location, while OK, was workable with the Metro. The hotel overall was pretty good. The rooms were pretty basic with somewhat outdated furnishings, but the bed and pillows were comfortable in all of our rooms and we were able to easily adjust the room temperature. We had rooms on the street side for all of our days here (6 nights total- 2 at beginning, 1 in middle, 3 at end), even though we asked to try a room on the non-street facing side for the 3 nights that we stayed here at the end. The first night here I had difficulty sleeping due to road and hotel noise because we were also directly across from the elevator. Our window was slightly open so after making sure it was fully closed, the road noise was eliminated, however the door does not provide enough sound protection for the hallway noise. Thankfully we moved a few doors down from the elevator after that so it was a bit quieter. The bathroom was clean, but small, however the water pressure was good in the shower, there was plenty of hot water and the controls were easy to use. The sink area was small, but had enough room to hold our toiletry bags. There is a built-in hairdryer, which did the job and the hotel provides plenty of toiletry items (shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, lotion, q-tips and a nice little shoe polish sponge that I used to clean off the road dirt from my shoes every night). Breakfast was included with our hotel and they had plenty of choices; more than a standard included breakfast. There were 3 types of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, assorted cold cuts/cheese, oatmeal, yogurt, many cakes and pastry items, bread/toast and assorted jelly, real peanut butter, canned fruit, but also fresh apples, pears and bananas that you can take with you. The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive at the hotel from the front desk and breakfast staff to the housekeeping staff that greeted us in the morning. We received help from the front desk staff arranging a sunset trip to Cape Sounion, dinner recommendations and taxi help for a day trip to Corfu. All in all, it was a nice stay. Almost forgot to mention the view from the pool area, which was a bonus. It was a little to chilly for an evening swim, but the sunset view was amazing from the rooftop and there was also a view of Lycabettus Hill.
