“Good for the Acropolis leg of the vacation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2012

I found these reviews very helpful in planning my trip to Greece, so I feel obligated to pay forward and add my own input regarding my stay.

Pros
• Gorgeous lobby
• Very helpful staff
• Full American breakfast buffet
• Good location, near the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum
• Our room had a good view of the Acropolis (we requested this view)

Cons
• The room that we got was very small...but if you’re in Greece and staying in your hotel room, you’re doing it wrong...
• The room had 2 twin beds, even though we requested a double...so we spent a night sleeping in a 50’s sitcom. I understand that this is not unusual for Greece, possibly due to the difficulty of getting a full size bed into these teeny rooms, but still. It was the only hotel we stayed at in Greece that did this.

Summary

Overall I would recommend the Heriodion. The price was not out of keeping for the area. We stayed at the Herodion for one night after flying in to Athens. Our itinerary had us leaving the next day, and I don’t know that I would have stayed at this location for any longer than we did.

Room Tip: If you're even staying at this hotel, get the Acropolis view.

The closest to the Acropolis Museum, with intimacy and non-conflicting character, when compared e.g. with the Divanis unit further down. Well proportioned, some rooms with interesting view through towards the Museum. Good breakfast area, lounge, not antiquated rooms and fine reception staff. Possibly the most serene and prestigious of the area whether you are for a very brief visit or a basis and see it all ceremony. Unbranded, food of acceptable qualityy. Definitely the choice if you favor the slightly worn establishment. Quiet location

Just returned from spending 4 nights in the Herodion hotel, what a find...our room was quite large, (116) with a little balcony. Ok no great view and there was some work going on in a property close by but the noise appeared to be in the mornings only when preparing to go out, so not a problem. It was actually nice to sit peacefully on the balcony in the early evening without crowds/people and decide what to do next..And with the roof terrace no view from any room could compete with this? Fantastic...Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. The lady who looked after our room was very nice, ensuring we had everything we needed.all in all a fantastic hotel for a city break. On the occasions we spoke with the staff at the front desk we found them to be very helpful and courteous. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. The location of the hotel was great in terms of being central for exploring and being able to return in the afternoon to freshen up if desired.
For those looking for something a little different can I suggest Lykavitos Hill, the funicular rail takes you to the top where sitting sipping a chilled wine was what I would describe as almost paradise ! and not busy...with brilliant views for miles.. a steep hill, and if walking difficulties perhaps a taxi would be adviseable..check out on your maps !!

My partner and i stayed in this hotel on two different occasions in 3 night stints while we travelled around Greece and we enjoyed our stay both times.

the hotel if 5 minute walk from the acropolis and restertaunts. done the road from the hotel there is a hop on and hop off bus stop site for you to start your sightseeing.

all staff are friendly- we got up late for breakfast after 10am but mistakely thought it finished at 10.30 when we arrived at breakfast the staff were packing up however the chief was very kind and made sure we still got breakfast.

the housekeep staff are very friendly and smile and say hello in the morning.

if you dine in the bar-the foods excellent at reasonable prices.

the rooms are very clean and beds are comfortable

Room Tip: WIFI for 24hours is $5 euros.

Very good location: Very near to Arcopolis, Parthenon, Arcopolis new museum and Metro station. The Room is good, not so specious but alright for two persons. Wifi is free only for one user which is a problem. Both the users can not use the internet at a time. Breakfast is not at all satisfactory. We choose upper floor room but the condition of the elevator was horrible. Any moment it could cranked and ceased its operation. we could'nt find any swiming pool.

Room Tip: Room should be choosen in the upper floors but should have to take proper care before taking elevato...

The front desk was always manned but some staff seemed disinterested. Views of the Acropolis from rooftop garden of hotel are wonderful. Our room was extremely hot in the afternoons. The room had no balcony. The shower screen was ineffective in controlling water to the bathroom floor. Breakfasts were lovely with a nice moist muesli, freshly squeezed orange juice, hot bacon and eggs with friendly and interested staff in the dining room. The house keeping staff did a great job each day on a modest sized room. The wi-fi was expensive at 5 Euro for 24 hours and was not user friendly.

Thank you for choosing Herodion Hotel during your trip, and sharing your experience with us as it helps us immensely in improving for our future guests. About the shower and temperature of the room, which is fully air-conditioned , we would have been gratefull if you had informed us in time,to immediately respond and solve the problems. Secondly your room had a wall to wall glass door that opens, with a wonderful light and view to a little park and neoclassical houses. Thank you for your feedback regarding our front desk staff, we will be sure to pass it along. We sincerely hope to be able to welcome you again for a leisure stay. Please contact us directly next time so we may make your stay more enjoyable.
