Just got back from Herodion. Virtually next to the Acropolis Museum in lovely district. Easy walking to Plka and Monesteraki districts. This well maintained hoteel has a roof with comfortable seats offering superb views across the few hundred yards to the Acroplois and Parthenon. We spent some lovely evenings with a bird's eye view washed down with Ouzo. The roof garden was virtually empty and the luxury of the hotel's position made it a highlight of the visit.

Good restaurants, a handy booth opposite the main door and the quality of local architecture made our stay an absolute joy. Most if not all rooms have a balcony (and although there's a school yard opposite) ideal for balmy evening and more Ouzo. The hotel is well appointed and breakfasts are superb with English and continental breakfasts and lashings of local delicacies and fruit. The bathrooms are, perhaps a tiny bit on the tired side, but have everything needed. The staff were incrtedibly attentive and proffered help and advice at all times.

It is hard to fault the hotel. It offers greta value and is ideal for most of the sites. Highly recommended indeed!

Room Tip: Rooms on the Parthenon side are quiet. You need a third floor room for a balcony view of the Parthen...

Didn't know what to expect as not used to going on a purely sightseeing holiday not part of a package. The location was terrific. Walking distance to virtually all the sights even for relatively unfit middle-aged travellers like us! Particularly good for the Acroplis and New Acroplis Museum which is virtually next door. Many restaurants within a few minutes walk. We had a room facing the street on the 4th floor (which is essentially the top floor as the only thing above is the roof garden with superb views). The balcony was a very generous size. The view was over the city and the mountains which was fine as you can see the Acropolis from everywhere else anyway. Was worried about noise but there wasn't any to be fair apart from the buses but that was only during the day when most people are out and about anyway. The room was a bit on the small size with not much storage space for two people staying for a full week so a number of items had to remain in our bags. The bathroom however was quite large and adequately supplied with the usual soap, shower gel etc and towels of all sizes. Service was good and the breakfast menu was ample. The comfortable lounge area contained a whole host of reading materials to cater for travellers from most places. I would recommend taking one of the 2 day hop-on hop-off bus tours from just down road from hotel. Use day 1 or a morning to do the bulk of the main city tour and then pick out the places where you want to spend more time and then go around again. All in all an excellent travellers hotel in a fantastic location. I would definitely recommend it as would the local taxi drivers and restauranteurs.
One very small point - check your bill carefully when checking out as we had 2 items on bill which were not ours. They were not large amounts and were removed without any arguments.

Excellent location if you are in Athens as a tourist, right next to Akropolis and Plaka. Very clean, good breakfast table. Close to Akropoli Metro station. Rooms rather small and there is some noise if facing the street, try to get a room facing Akropolis, they have better views and less noise.

You really can not get much more central and the view from the top floor is stunning. The staff are unobtrusive and helpful;l and the breakfasts cater for all requirements. The internal rooms are compact and the bathrooms are uncomfortably small - especially if you are on the large side. If you intend to spend much time in the room make sure you get an outside room or stay elsewhere. Lost our booking at check in and have to pay for internet use - whereas up the road it's free wifi from cafe's taking far less of you money.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and insist on an outside room

Stayed here in March 2012 for three nights with my girlfriend while on vacation. Was greeted by a staff member outside the hotel upon arrival, who helped us bring our bags into the hotel. Checked in with no problem, and was given a map, and advice on everywhere to go and do, metro stations and restaurant recomendations.

Amazing location right next to the New Acropolis Museum and Acropolis metro station, which can take you anywhere you want to go with in two or three stops. Also can walk just fine to Plaka or other parts of Athens popular to tourists, but the weather wasn't that great when we were there, so the metro was the better choice.

Room was just fine, lived up to mine and my girlfriends expectations, rooms cleaned everyday, nice hotel bar with great bartender at night. Have to pay for wifi and the connection is a little slow, but works just fine. The view from the top of the hotel and its roof garden are absolutely amazing, worth the price of the hotel for the view alone. Hot tubs on the roof though aren't that great a deal. 5 euro for 15 mins. Beds are just fine, a little firm, but slept with no problem during our stay.

I would recommend eating a Strofi, which is right down the street for dinner or lunch one day/night. Great food and even better views of the Acropolis.

I would recommend to family and friends staying in Athens.

In 2006 we stayed here booked by a travel agent for stay in Athens when first arriving and when departing the country. On a recent cruise ending in Athens I booked it again as it was close to all the places we wanted to see again. In the interim the rooftop terrace has had a fantastic makeover. The rooftop has a great view of the Acropolis. Just next door to the hotel is the new Acropolis Museum. Within walking distance is the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, the Plaka, and the Agora. Also public transportation hubs easy to get to. The staff is friendly and speaks English. Our booking included breakfast which is better than most hotels. See pictures. The hotel is on a quiet street with easy access to the main roads through Athens. My first stay had a car delivered to the hotel and I drove from and back to the hotel easily. Well easily as far as directions goes. Scooters darting in and out are another thing. The room is comfortable, clean, the bathroom was pretty small, but I've definitely seen smaller in Europe. There was Wi-FI, but not free. 6 Euros for 24 hours. There's a fantastic restaurant up the street. Strofi. Rovertou Galli 25. Lovely views of the Acropolis from the higher dining rooms. I would definitely stay at the Herodion again.

In a great location for exploring Athens next to the historic quarter of Plaka with great views looking over the Acropolis.

The hotel has a gorgeous roof terrace with unobstructed views of the Acropolis, lovely olive garden with hot tubs, nice bar and conservatory.

Rooms were spotless.

Negatives: Tired dull bedrooms and corridors (completely out on sync with the rest of the hotel), poor TV signal in room 201, poor sound proofing to room 210. Grim but spotless bathrooms. Mirror light did not work in room 201.

Room service was limited with only three options offered which is completely at odds with the weighty room service menu. I was advised the kitchen was closed at 9pm whilst the room service menu bragged that it closed at midnight.

Accuracy of the front desk was very poor, we had booked two rooms, but I was only offered one (even though we had a booking for two rooms), however, this was quickly resolved, but it took a contemptible 20 mins to book out!
