When we arrived late at night we were a bit shocked to see two policemen with riot shields across the road from the entrance to the hotel. Our fears were misplaced because the police presence in the area was more a signal that everything is currently under control.
What of the hotel? We loved it. The staff were excellent, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast was more than adequate, the location was superb for bars and restaurants, and, although the hotel is in the northern, older part of the city, a taxi ride to the Acropolis costs just over 4 euros.
Wi-fi strength was good and there are also two desktops downstairs for residents. Free tea and coffee are available in the lounge all day. There are no kettles in the rooms but hot water pots, cups and saucers, can be supplied from the lounge to the room.
The across-the-street Archaeological Museum is definitely worth a visit. Even if the name makes it sound dull and dry, there is so much to see in the vast range of exhibits that it is a sin to miss that.
All in all, a ***+ hotel.More
