as we left our beautiful ship MS Noordam, we were in an all time low esp heading for a hotel that is NOT 5 star. taqxi took us to windy roads that is full of graffiti. But when we found A for Athens, it was a welcome sigh of relief - red carpet from the door, big smile from reception who told us that despite arriving before 12 noon, our room is ready and that there is still breakfast on the rooftop. the room is exceptionally huge with top notch bathroom and so quiet at night even with the pub on the rooftop and the markets in the front of the building. the view on the rooftop includes acropolis on top and the dancing crowd on the market square below. I lo9ve this hotel and will definitely recommend to all my friends.

Excellent location, right in the heart of Athens, in a short walking distance to many shops, restaurants and the major attractions. The hotel is right next to Monastiraki metro station, from where you can travel to either the Airport or the Piraeus (the port to islands). Breakfast is served on the 6th floor by nice staff. Acropolis view from the rooftop bar is breathtaking, you can also enjoy the very nice view from the rooms facing Acropolis.

I stayed in 2 different rooms, with and without a view. Beds are very comfortable, rooms are spacious, very clean, with excellent bathrooms. I believe the hotel has been renovated recently.

The front desk team was warm, welcoming and always happy to assist. Special thanks to Vaios and Vangelis for being friendly and helpful, they sent me to nice local restaurants and suggested some delicious desserts to try.

I stayed in this hotel before and after my trip to the famous islands, I would definitely stay here again if I go back to Athens; ideal location, clean rooms and wonderful service, just all what I need to enjoy my vacation.

We spent 4 nights in this wonderful hotel! the accessibility of this hotel cannot be beat; it is across the street from a Metro station (8 euros to/from the airport, 1 euro 40 to Piraeus cruise ship terminal); walking distance to virtually all of the attractions in downtown Athens. Breakfast was a nice variety, including eggs, and served in a nice rooftop café with an outstanding view of the city and the Acropolis. The staff was very friendly and responsive; two things to mention though, we had a very weak internet connection in our room and given the hotel is in the middle of downtown, if you like to have the window open, it tends to be noisy.

We spent five days in this great hotel and great city. Rooms were extremely spacious, well equipped and decorated. Very friendly, kind and very informed staff willing to help you with all sorts of advises and information. Hotel's location is really great. It is situated on Monastiraki square which is very close to Acropolis, Agora, museums, etc. It is in the middle of the walking district - a lovely and lively area with lots of shops, restaurants, taverns with native music. BTW, our opinion is that city of Athens deserves much more attention, compared to other European cities that are in the middle of touristic focus, but have much less to offer.

We stayed for two nights on the last leg of our Greek Island honeymoon. The best thing about this hotel is that it's literally on top of a Metro station and a a short walk to nearly everything. Rooms were well appointed and the breakfast buffet was high quality and generous. One minor drawback for us was the spotty (virtually non existant) WIFI, but really who cares when you're in Greece, right? Nonetheless, it's a solid bet for downtown Athens.

I have not stayed at the hotel, but I have enjoyed a few visits here to drink my coffee and watch over Monastiraki Square and the Acropolis!

The coffee is amazing, and the view is exceptional. Cannot fault the quality of the food and drink at the rooftop bar, and furthermore its location. You wouldn't know it was there - I was lucky enough to be with a local!

Definitely try it!

Last stop on our Honeymoon! Yes, there were definelty some perks to staying at A For Athens. Location was awesome, but you do pay the price, in noise. Wishing at times that the windows were soundproof because these Greeks sure know how to party....LATE! Didnt help that the restaurant/nightclub was right above us, but also the center square/heart of Athens was right below us. I think there was a few hours between 4am-6am where it would be ideal for sleeping, but buy a pair of earplugs bc it gets rowdy! Another bummer was the air conditioner Breakfast buffet was great, selection was nice, and the view of the Acropolis was awesome. Staff was very friendly too, even when the kept trying to get the wifi to work, blaming the router.... Seemed like the 4th and 5th floors weren't able to pick up the wifi that was promised on the website and upon arrival. We were only there for 3 nights, so that wasnt a huge deal, but if we were staying longer, it might've gotten a bit annoying, Bottom line: Great location, and fair prices, nice amenities, but noisy and seemingly disconnected even though the hustle and bustle is literally in your face, or your ears at least. Try it for yourself!
