Small hotel right in the middle of the action. Hundreds of restaurants, bars and shops around the hotel, 50 meters from Metro station. Friendly and efficient staff, good size room with small kitchen unit including a fridge, decent breakfast.
Our room was on front with great view but the result was a virtual non stop massive sound level that penetrated ear plugs and noise reduction headphones. This was compounded but the throbbing base from the bar on the roof.
Poor double glazing did not help.

Friday night was the worse and having gone to bed at 1am we still got little sleep.

If you are in Athens to have a few great nights out and will go to bed drunk then a room in the front is good. If not then get a room at the back or stay some where else.

Room Tip: As for a room at the back of the hotel. You will have plenty of time to take in the view when your w...

My wife and I stayed here in July for 3 nights. It is just across the road from Monistiaki train station which has direct trains to and from the airport. Check in was very fast with the resevation staff being very polite. Even though we were on an main street and on the first floor, the sound proofing was excellent, so that when you closed the balcony doors you could hardly hear any noise from outside. The hotel room was perfect for a short stay and has all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was buffet style and served on the split level roof top. This area also serves as the hotel bar after breakfast. The bar area is split over 3 levels and has a great view of the surrounding area. Be warned, if you want to have a drink in the evening, get in early as this bar is very popular, not only with the guests, but also the locals. All the staff at this hotel were very professional and willing to help with anything you required. The bar staff were great and if they didn't have time for a talk, they would always make a point of having a quick chat if they were busy. Due to it's proximety to Plaka, the Acropolis, transport, the flea markets and too many restaurants and bars to name, This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in while in Athens. I would strongly recommend the A For Athens to anyone who is looking for a great hotel that is close to all you need.

Great location but not for the light sleepers. The hotel is right on monastiraki square where there are nightly drum playing and music which go for hours during the night. Staff are nice, clean place and nice basic breakfast. The wifi internet is unreliable and very regularly cuts out which is frustrating. The hotel will offer to book a taxi from the airport for 40euro but you can easily just jump in a taxi and pay less for 35 euro. Overpriced for just a basic room.

This is a nice hotel very centrally located and with superb staff. The view of the acropolis at breakfast is really very special. The breakfast area becomes a nightclub at night and also has amazing views. I would stay there again but noise sensitive people are likely to find the bustling nightclub scene hard to bear. I travel with ear plugs and so it wasn't a concern to me but on the weekend it was pretty noisy and I think some people might be bothered by that. Having said that- I would go back again. It is hard to beat for convenience- you walk about 200 feet to the metro station and all the sights are an easy walk. And- as I said- the staff were helpful and really nice.

You'll see the hotel as soon as you step out of the Metro station;right in front of the Monastiraki Square. The receptionist on our arrival was very accomodating, helpful and friendly. He gave us a map and marked the attractions(ruins) that would be of interest to us.When he knew that it was our fist time in Athens,he gave us a big room with a balcony (for a few additional Euros-found out on checking out but it was ok,not much) and view of the Monastiraki Square and the Acropolis. The views, day or night, were breathtaking.

However, the "room with a view" has its downsides: Monastiraki Square is always full of people, activities, noise. If you are a light sleeper then ask for a quiet room.Although the windows and doors are double-glazed the sounds of drums, shouting people, car honks and everything else can be heard from the room.It usually quiets down at around 2-3 in the morning.

Breakfast was enough to keep you going all morning til lunchtime, at least for us.There were differrent choices of breads, cereals, eggs, cold cuts, cofees and teas, orange and peach juices, butter, jams,Greek yoghurt, fruits.I loved their sausages! The best part was the view of the Acropolis from the breakfast room which is on the top floor. It is also a bar at night, which can be really noisy. We could hear the music and noise from the bar outside our room, but they close the hallway doors at night to keep the noise away from rooms.

There are many cafes/ restaurants ,bakeries, ice cream shops around the hotel, and it is along the high street so if you are "ruined-out/templed-out" you have the shopping option.Syntagma and Plaka are just a few minute-walk from the hotel.

They also booked a taxi for us on our check out day, going to the port (cost 20 euros).

Overall I would recommend this hotel for a decent price, location, cleanliness, staff service.

Ok. If you want a central spot to work from this hotel right on the edge of Monastiraki will give you that. If you want newly renovated, clean, functional rooms you'll get that too. If you want to wake up looking at the Acropolis, that is also available from street facing rooms. The2nd floor provides the views. The staff are accommodating, helpful and can even take your laundry away in the morning and for a small fee, deliver it washed and folded that same evening. However, the rooftop bar is very busy as it offers the best views. The square can also get very noisy and although the rooms are somewhat soundproofed, if you are a light sleeper, you may find the noisy environment a bit difficult to handle. Good value hotel. Walkable for the city sights.

Room Tip: At least 2nd floor and unfortunately facing the square.
