“Not for light sleepers”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

This was a really nice (albeit small) hotel that I recently stayed in. The rooms were clean and comfortable and nicely decorated and the location was great. However, I would NOT recommend this hotel if you're a light sleeper. In addition to the noise from the rooftop club (which many other reviewers note), the hallway floors are wood. You hear "clump, clump, clump" as everyone walks by. You also hear the elevator fire door slam shut every time someone gets on or off. Finally, at 3:00 a.m., two nights in a row, a bartender was slamming huge bags of ice outside our door, getting ready to carry them up to the club. I had paid more money to stay in a nice hotel and ensure a good night's sleep... unfortunately, that didn't happen at A for Athens. :-(

I had read many trip reviews about this Hotel before I booked so I knew what to expect. This was the best position for a Hotel with the greatest view. I do think that it is all relative to what you are used to and what you classify as 3 star, 4 star, 5 star etc.

It is absolutely clean, new, fresh and most of all spacious compared to normal European standards. The bathrooms where huge compared to some on the Islands.

We stayed there for 3 nights on our arrival early September , then again for 2 nights after we had Island hopped and returned to Athens at the end of September. The staff were very polite and helpful. I had requested a room with a view on a lower floor due to the comments about the noise of the rooftop bar. I can honestly say that with the windows shut, we heard little from our rooms on the 3rd floor. I suppose we walked all day , so we crashed at night time.

A plus for us was that it was so close to Monastiraki metro station, ( you can see the Metro station in my night photo - it is the building with the arches and the lights directly across from the Hotel...you go down and down and down again , just like for the tube in London etc. ) so it was easy to get to from the Airport as well as easy from Piraeus as well. So you don't have to take a taxi. There are hundreds of restaurants and cafes in walking distant ( just in the street off the Monastiraki Square) and did we walk and eat and walk!!!

Apart from the nice bed and chair and table and bathroom with huge shower head ,the first room 31 , on the end, had a Juliette Balcony and a kitchenette and the second room 32 had a large bed, a couch and huge windows and bench and a window in the shower that you could see the Parthenon from. Both rooms were great.
The very nice breakfast is served on the 6th Floor which is a rooftop Terrace with the same wonderful view.....that turns into the Bar at night time.
Waiting for the tiny lift did not really affect us. You knew that you had a wait alittle. For that view and for the convenience of this Hotel, I was prepared to wait for anything.....you are on holidays - don't rush !

After staying in this hotel for two nights whilst in Athens, i must say the staff in this hotel are very very good, they are friendly, polite and very helpful and a big thank you to all of them for making my short stay so comfortable. A special thank you to Mr Chondras at reception for being so helpful with places to go etc.

The hotel is central for all places of interest and bars etc and the breakfast at the hotel is decent enough for the rates of the hotel. Television channels not so good but that is not in my opinion a huge problem. Room I stayed in was spacious and very clean with an excellent shower.

The lift is very small but only 121 stairs from top to bottom if like me you dont use lifts.

Overall good value for money hotel that if I did ever visit Athens again would not hesitate to stay in.

Central location. Close to everything. Tiniest elevator we've ever seen but it does the job. Front desk staff were helpful. Our room had a spectacular view of the Acropolis (from the room and the bathroom too!). It was very clean, modern, and practical. Fortunately, we were only on the second floor so when the elevator was not working or was busy with so many people trying to get to the rooftop bar, we were able to walk up and down the stairs.

Room Tip: Pay for an Acropolis view. We think it was worth the extra money.

The hotel is nice, the service was good, the room was clean and modern. But we didn't feel comfortable at the crowded noisy heart of athens. The hotels restaurant is on the roof where you can enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the Acropolis but at night the restaurant turns into a bar crowded with all the youth of Athens. All these guests of the bar use the hotels single and tiny elevator so usuali we had to climb to our room. At night the area is very very noisy . I wouldn't offer the hotel for more than one or two nights.

This hotel has the best location especially if you can only stay a few days.

We were on the third floor with an insane view of the acropolis and the plaka...amazing. The room is clean, very modern, with a good bathroom. We were certainly impressed by the standard of the room considering the price.

On level 6 their was a fantastic roof top bar, with 6 euro cocktails in the afternoon until 8pm - very good, plus not to mention a great view of the acropolis.

The service at reception is really good, very fierce day and helpful.

The only negative, was that we stayed over a weekend and the plaka can get a bit noisy, with singers etc. this was a bit loud, so you will need to expect this - just bring ear plugs.

I would certainly return again.

I would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: Facing the plaka has great rooms with great view

Stayed in room 42 and the view of the Acropolis and Monastiraki square is fantastic. Location was also very central, right next to the interesting flea market and a decent walk to the Acropolis as well.

The roof-top bar is immensely popular though and the 2 nights I stayed, on Sat+Sun night, there was endless human traffic starting from late afternoon, I could also hear a bit of music from the bar until late at night. Also the hotel is right next to a very busy road with vehicles honking endlessly throughout the day, and the windows/walls did not provide the necessary soundproofing. There also happened to be a concert on Monastiraki square when I stayed and unfortunately for me it was super loud and it proved impossible to sleep at night until close to midnight.

Interesting place to stay, but if you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere better to look somewhere else.

Room Tip: View from room 42 was wonderful.
