This is not one of the usual reviews where a person writes their experience of one meal at a certain restaurant. I’ve been going to Ouzeri Lesvos for a few years and I’m very happy that I can finally write a review for it.
Ouzeri Lesvos is owned by a Lesviot who loves the products, food and drinks of his island. His family ships fresh fish and seafood from Lesvos everyday which means that whatever you choose to eat will always be fresh and very cheap.
Everything served there is either from Lesvos or cooked the Lesviot way. You will find meatballs (as cooked on the island), potatoballs, fried cuttlefish, various cured fish (depending on the season), ladotyri and fried aubergines topped with grated cheese.
They do serve the popular ouzos but they also ship straight from the island Yiannatsi and Pitsiladi (two of the best ouzos of Lesvos). The house wine is of excellent quality and always in the right temperature.
Service is great, also by a Lesviot; hospitality runs in their blood!
Prices are beyond imagination! We’ve never paid more than 25 euros per person and those 25 euros include one bottle of ouzo (each) and at least one fish/seafood plate (each).
Example: last time I was there we were 3 people and we had 2 bottles of ouzo (Yiannatsi), 1 lt of wine, 1 plate of fried Koutsomoures (redmullet-like small fish), chips, courgette balls, potato balls, fried aubergines with cheese, ladotyri, fava beans, grilled octopus and 2 cokes. They brought us halva and mastiha shots on the house. The bill came to 69 euros (we paid 75, including the tip).
I’ve never had a bad meal there and I highly recommend it to those who like traditional Greek cooking and interesting mezedes. When taking a bite of octopus and a sip of ouzo, if I close my eyes, I can pretend that I am at one of Lesvos’ seaside ouzeris.
They also have live (Greek with Asian minor touches) music every Friday, which is a great addition to the already excellent meals.
