Owner description: These ancient ruins were restored in the early 20th century and now house a collection of ancient Greek sculpture.

This place has been nicely rebuilt so that we can get a sense of what it was like 3,000 years ago. We were told this was the first shopping mall in the world, and well it would have been.

The Ancient Agora is a calm and green spot in the centre of otherwise tourist-thronged Athens. The Museum lies in the Ancient Agora of Athens, placed in the restored Stoa of Attalos. The Stoa which was built of Attalos of Pergamon in ca 160 BC, houses a large and modern museum with artefacts from the site of Ancient Agora. and displays a large collection of items connected to Athenian democracy. A museum you can enjoy undisturbed by others. Very pleasant place if you have time to enjoy it!

The Stoa houses the agora museum and is amazing, from the way it luks and what it contains, to the pictures you can take upstairs with a backdrop of the temple of Hephaestus.

Beautifully reconstructed, the Stoa is part of the ancient agora site and "houses" the Agora Museum.
Stand here and look across the ruins of the ancient agora and imagine the hustle and bustle of the center of ancient Greek culture.
Part of the Acropolis Ticket.
