“Second visit and looking forward to more”
Reviewed April 15, 2010

Our second stay at this hotel lived up to its promise. This time the room was a little smaller and even though we were told all rooms with an Acropolis view were booked out, you could still see part of it through our window.
This time we tried the indoor spa and it was fantastic. The pool is a decent size, there are four steam/therapy/sauna rooms, foot spas and the ambience is beautiful.
I had a facial by the fabulous Maria who was one of the most pleasant people I have ever met.
We had one small problem with security mistreating my husband and spoke to the manager about it who was very prompt and helpful.
No tea or coffee in our room but housekeeping were very quick to bring an iron and adapter which we forgot to take.
The blinds are fantastic - the room was pitch black at 9am.
Will stay again!

Just back from a wonderful Easter in Athens... If you're heading to this City, you couldn't do better than this gorgeous hotel...
This gloriously decadent place lavishes in luxury... Reception is stunning, the rooms are excellent with beds that are so comfortable you wish you could bring them home with you... and the service simply can't be faulted.
I was celebrating my birthday while we were there and the hotel staff were kind enough to great us with an upgraded room and a bottle of champagne.
The spa is a real treat, as is the rooftop pool... great way to relax and grab a few rays away from the City's crowds.
The breakfast buffet is good, but can't really compare with the stunning view of the Acropolis that steals the show every morning.
Can't recommend this place enough, one of the most fabulous hotels I've ever been lucky enough to visit.

This is the grand dame of hotels in Athens. Located in Constitution Square, you can watch the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from your balcony. There are newer, much more modern and convenient hotels, but this is a hotel with history. Ask a clerk or concierge with nothing to do and he'll show you the hidden tunnels Churchill used to escape an assassination attempt after the war.

They also have a great house cocktail.

Dear guest, we're delighted you enjoyed your stay. After a complete $100 million renovation, the hotel reopened in 2003 as a brand new hotel with state of the art facilities. But the part it has played in the history of Athens, and Greece itself, still runs strongly in its veins - as you yourself have experienced. We do hope you'll have the opportunity to stay with us once more on your next visits to Athens.

A Starwood Luxury Collection Hotel - Well deservedly named. An excellent Hotel. Great attentive staff, fabulous decor, excellent amenities and great position in the centre of Athens - close to all the tourist sites. When I say close they are all within walking distance. My partner said the decor reminded her of pictures she has seen of the Titanic - LOL.

We had organised a car to pick us up from Athens Airport and the driver gave us a 'run down' on sites to see in Athens as well as pointing out views on the drive from the airport to the hotel.

Check-in was a smooth affair and we were shown to our room. We had a small balcony on level 4 which overlooked the Parliament. The room was neat and tidy (what else would you expect in such a plush and well run establishment). No wonder visiting dignitaries use this Hotel.

We stayed during the tail-end of the European winter and the weather was just right (about 22C) for strolling around the city of Athens. But because it was officially winter the outdoor swimming pool was closed, but there is a fabulous indoor pool on the lower level with gymnasium and sauna’s. We used this facility a couple of times and again the staff were so attentive.

We mostly dined outside of the hotel where there are an abundance of good eating places and not costly. On the last night we went to the Hotel restaurant on level 8 (The Roof Garden) and splashed out on dinner. The view of the Parthenon is fantastic. The food was great and we just sat back and enjoyed the experience. The cost was not too bad (100Euros for 2 mains and 1 dessert) for a top quality dinner.

Costly – the car pick up from the airport (145 Euros) but that was for a limo. The return from the hotel to airport was not bad at 60 Euros. Luckily we had booked the return to the airport as there was a taxi strike on the day we departed.

Couple of points:
You must see the Changing of the guard at the Parliament. It happens every hour on the hour.
We used the tram (from outside parliament) to visit Piraeus only 1 Euro for 90 minutes of travel each.
Visit the ‘flea market’ and browse and ‘negotiate’. A ten minute walk from the Hotel on the way to the Parthenon.
If you plan to visit the Parthenon and other sites do so on Sunday as entry is Free. All other days it’s about 20 euros for a pass to all the local sites.
The people were so friendly and helpful when asked to give directions to a couple of ‘lost’ souls.

In summary thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Athens – thanks to the Hotel and to the people of Athens.
Highly recommend this Hotel – a great experience.

Although the hotel is in a great location and the decor is pleasant. The rooms are spacious and decorated in a classic/modern style, bathrooms were excellent.
and the staff are thoroughly professional.
