We recently spent 2 nights. I can highly recommend this hotel. Everything was perfect. Meals at the roof top restaurant are a must. Fantastic food and service with a stunning view of the Acropolis. The only negative was that we had a rather small room with no view at all. The curtains needed to be kept closed.

A gem and oasis in the center of Athens. From the initial greeting by the doormen (George and Dimitri) to the personalized reception at the counter (Panos), the sumptuous decor and beautiful rooms, the breathtaking, panoramic and open air restaurant (and bar at night) on the 8th floor with it's unobstructed view of the Acropolis....everything is just so enthralling. The food (and room service) is outstanding, as are the pool, the spa, cigar lounge, restaurant and world famous bar just off the grandiose entrance of this establishment. This is truly a 5 star Hotel in every sense of the word. It deserves it's classification : A Luxury Collection Hotel.
Be prepared to dig deep into your pockets, but it's worth every penny.

Stayed for 2 nights in early August after a week in Paxos with our two grown-up children. Great location and easy to get to the main sites (use the Metro to get to the Acropolis - its air conditioned).

There is always something satisfying about these old classic city hotels - sitting in the grand lobby enjoying the air conditioning and watching weary guests slump through the doors and visibly lift to be back in the cool. The bar was good - well stocked and a well made dry martini. We had two connecting rooms - one was a decent size the other perhaps a little small. Good quality bathrooms - especially the shower. We had a pleasant lunch around the pool. We avoided the roof restaurant for fear of overpriced hotel food and wanted to eat out anyway. Our rate did not include breakfast, so we ate that in the cafe in the square immediately across the road with the locals.

All in all a pleasant stay, perhaps a little expensive but good quality.

We did a one night pre-cruise stay at the hotel but arrived at lunch-time, so had plenty of time to explore the area before our cruise the next day.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, right next to Parliament and we watched the changing of the guards from our bedroom balcony. It over looks one of the main squares in Athens and there are plenty of shops and restaurants within a few minutes walking. It is also close to Plaka, the old town, which is charming with cobbled streets, lovely shops and again more restaurants and cafes. Plus of course it is only a 10 - 15 minute walk to the Acropolis!

The hotel itself is a classic, a beautiful building and lovely inside too. We had a deluxe room, which was more than adequate in size, with a lovely bathroom and amenities. Our safe was broken when we got into our room but the hotel staff quickly fixed that for us. The only bad point I would make is in the shower, it seems the plughole had been cleaned and a large clump of hair had been taken out but was just left on the shower shelf along with the shower gel etc. Apart from that it seemed very clean and we enjoyed it. There is a swimming pool and bar but with it being the middle of summer, it was extremely busy but it looked a lovely area. The restaurant on the top floor has probably the best views in the whole of Athens of the Acropolis. We ate lunch there, which was nice and also had breakfast the following morning. It can be quite expensive to eat there. We went exploring in the evening and found restaurants that had been recommended as we wanted to try traditional Greek food.

We would stay there again when next visiting Athens.

Room Tip: A good view of the square and Parliament if you are on the front of the hotel but you can get a bit...

You cannot beat the location of this hotel. You are in the heart of Athens where everything your heart desires is within reach - historical, shopping and restaurants! I booked a room for 4 nights at what I thought was expensive by International standards. However you do expect to pay for class. I was contacted by the Hotel, to their credit who offered me a suite for an extra 100 euros a night. I wish I had taken them up on their offer, as I thought our room, overlooking their Parliament was small.Mind you this is an historic Hotel which can be guilty of the small room syndrome. Still and all it had rainforest shower which is standard in 5 star hotels these days but bench space for toiletries was minimal. Staff are super excellent and nothing seems to be too much trouble.
If you are offered an upgrade to a suite I recommend you take it!

Room Tip: Considering the cost of a room upgrade to a suite!

At the end of our latest Europe trip we had a few days on the island of Spetses and then 3 nights in Athens. We were told to stay at this hotel as it is near to The Acropolis and the other sites in central Athens. As I am an SPG Gold member we were upgraded to the 7th floor and shown to our room by our butler. But given the heat I'm not sure what use a butler is,versus just the nplain old concierge. The room was a bit small. We went up to the famed rooftop retaurant only to discover you need slacks/shoes-giev the heat this eems a starngish tradition. We enjoyed the 7th floor rooftop pool area, and somehow my drinks here were free-not suer why.Hotel is nice though perhaps getting a bit tired. Also for Athens did seem a bit pricey

Room Tip: Suspect most rooms are not that spacious

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during a 3 week trip to the Greek Islands. We chose the hotel because we are Starwood Gold Members, and because of the great trip advisor reviews. I wanted to share my experience and reconfirm what most people are saying about this hotel, how great it is.

ARRIVAL: When we first arrived to the hotel, there was a bellman that instantly greeted us and took our bags into the lobby. We checked in with a very friendly girl who informed us of all the hotel amenities. We were given complimentary internet (an SPG Gold benefit). We booked the most basic rooms, as we paid with StarPoints. We were given a great location on the 4th floor with a view of the courtyard.

ROOM: The rooms themselves were small yet very classy. The bed was comfortable, and the room had all the amenities you need. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The bathroom was all marble and very elegant. The shower is excellent! We accidentally blew one of our electronic devices with the converter and an electrician came up instantly to resolve the issue. There was no wait whatsoever. Housekeeping did a very good job. The rooms were serviced twice daily.

ADDITIONAL: The pool area on the roof is very nice, however a little small. The indoor pool on the lower level where the spa is was fantastic. Also in this area were two foot soaking tubs, a sauna, multiple different showers with different massage options. The steam rooms were fantastic. The restaurant on the rooftop is fantastic. We only ate breakfast there and the food was good. The view was even better.

All of the staff were very polite and helpful. The location cannot be beat. We had a short time here, however, it was one of my best hotel experiences yet. I would definitely return to this property the next time I visit Athens.
