“Truly Five Star Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

Staying at this hotel is truly a five star experience comparable only to similar high standing historical establishments such as the Peninsula in NYC, the Negresco in Nice, Plaza in Paris etc. The hotel is perfectly located at the exit of Syntagma metro station, in the center of Athens. Every attraction is a few stops away from the hotel. The reception staff is very courteous, everyone from reception to concierge to doorman Speak perfect English and are always willing to help. The hotel is lavishly decorated, rooms are decorated with mahogany, bathroom in white and black marble, flat screen TV, fast in room internet. Everything in this hotel says five stars ( even the bill ) !

Room Tip: This hotel has courtyard rooms, inquire if you prefer street view rooms.

We have stayed here several times, both before or after cruises out of/ into Piraeus. Location is great, right on Parliament Square, hotel has a history, built originally in 1890s, best is roof top pool, bar and restaurant with incredible view of The Parthenon, especially at night. There were demonstrations the night we were there- Greek democracy in action- and we had a great view from our balcony. But the service here really needs improvement, both in the hotel and restaurant. One almost has the feeling staff is distracted (by the economic issues in Greece?) or simply don't care about pleasing the visitor.

Hotel is very grand inside, the bedrooms are well equipped ,very clean, bathrooms are all marble and very large, front bedrooms have a view of the parliament house where they change the guard every hour,
Breakfast is taken on floor eight where you sit outside in the warm sunshine, with a view overlooking the Acropolis. Great breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: Ask for a front nedroom

My rich cousin sprung for our room here. What you'd expect for $450 US per night, very comfortable etc. Some rooms have nice views of Constitution square. I doubt I'd bother to stay here even if I had the extra money, a bit too stuffy etc, plus a clean soft bed can be had for much cheaper.

This hotel is a gracious hotel with lots of charm. The dining experience is very good but the lobby lounge venue for food and drinks is one of our favourite experiences in the world. The ambience is wonderful with a pianist in the afternoon. A must to visit at anytime during your stay.

An elegant hotel amid the craziness of central Athens. A welcoming lobby and staff, with old world luxury rooms. Reminded us of the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. Amazing breakfast spread with the best view in the city atop the hotel. Nice pool area - much appreciated in the summer heat! Only drawback was the restaurant at dinner - spectacular view, but over priced with average food and hurried, inattentive service. Special mention to the concierge staff - exceptionally friendly and helpful.

This is definitely one of those rare "must stay" hotels. The location is hard to beat. It is only a short stroll to the shops, dining and public transport assuming you are not interested in dining at the hotel's beautiful restaurants.

The room was comfortable, well appointed with a large bathroom. It has a balcony overlooking Syntagma Square and the Greek Parliament.

Service at check in was slow. There were quite a few people checking in at the same time. Delays were caused by guests having to fill in their details at the reception. The process could be hastened if those queuing where given the forms to complete while we waited instead. However, the delay is compensated by the beautiful surroundings of the lobby area. You know you've arrived at a really nice hotel.

The beautiful spa facilities located in the lower ground floor are among the best I've seen. Guests have complimentary use of the pool, dry sauna, steam rooms of various descriptions, rain showers and rest areas.
