Despite an unpleasant start, we enjoyed visiting the Acropolis and the Parthenon although it was a blistering hot day and very very crowded. Also, the steps and paths were very slippery and we saw lots of falls. The ruins however are awe inspiring and worth a visit.
Our visit did not start well as after queueing for 40 minutes in the extreme heat, the woman at the ticket office was very rude, and either didn't speak English or pretended not to, and refused to sell my daughter a reduced fee ticket even though she showed her her student card and British passport. She basically threw the passport back at my daughter and demanded she pay full price. Meanwhile, others in our group who were attended by different ticket sellers had no problem paying reduced ticket prices or in some cases were given free entry.
