Its amazing how ancient and modern can coexist in the same area...
Greece is the center of culture, science, philosophy etc and will always be fascinating, inspiring and amazing in every way!!!

It was just amazing to walk in the footsteps of the ancient Greeks! It’s good to first read or listen about the Agora to understand the significance of what one is seeing. I found an online audio guide which was very helpful. It’s spread in a huge area and there are several monuments within. There is also a small but very interesting museum within the Stoa of Attalos (the reconstructed covered ancient market). Definitely worth a visit.

There is a surprising amount to see in a relatively small area. We went late afternoon and it was very tranquil, also very interesting.
If you have a combined Acropolis ticket it's free, so there's no excuse (other than time) for not visiting.

I purchased the packet for all the ancient sites at the gate. Inside the ancient site you can also visit the Church of Apostols, the Temple of Hephaestus(withstood the test of time, being well preserved) ; there is also a museum that has the entry included in the price.

Prepare your knowledge before you come here. It is really like walking smack into History. Rick Steves downloadable tour will really contribute to your experience. Take it all in

This was the administrative, commercial and political hart of ancient Athens. Socrates expounded his philosophy here. Don't miss the Stoa of Attalos, temple of Hephaestus, church of the Holy Apostles and ancient statues.

It’s beautiful and they rebuilt one of the temples so you can picture how it actually was but if you did the Acropolis or the national garden, it’s not a big deal if you can’t make it here. It’s beautiful for sure but we spend 40 minutes on site.

We enjoyed wandering around the grounds of what was supposedly the center of Athenian life. They have some nicely restored buildings and a few that are left in what I would call "arrested decay" which means they look historical. This is one of the stops you can visit when buying the multi-site ticket. Defintely worth a look.

This is accessed whilst visiting the temple within the same site and is included in the €30 multi ticket, quite a lot of information on site explaining what it is you are seeing, a little imagination needed! Site is rough walking wise in many places.

A travel in the past. A must visit while in Athens. Read also the history of the place and the connection between all exposed archaeological sites in the centre of Athens. It is better to get the three day ticket to all sites instead of getting one at each.
