Owner description: These ruins, located in the heart of modern Athens, were once the site of the marketplace in ancient times, a political, cultural and economic center of the ancient world.

I had been to Athens many times over several decades but had never been to the agora until recently. I was amazed by it's size and the well preserved temple on the site. It is easy to access and easy to walk around. Don't miss this ior the museum within the grounds.

Do make sure to visit the Museum in the beautifully restored Stoa, the 150 meter long former covered market. The small museum is chronologically arranged and covers some 2000 years of history.

The only temple that still stands with no restorations. Spectacular sight, one you should not miss! Plenty of other ruins on the same site to view as well, but this is the stand out. Wonderfully lit at night as well. Beware this site closes at 3pm - last entry around 230pm.

Unfortunately the day we visited the area the sight it self was closed but the great thing about Athens is that you can see everything even without entering.
So any time you visit and you walk around you will be able to enjoy the ancient ruins and take lovely pictures

Stunning set of ruins that was a pleasure to walk around without being crowded. Taking the time to read the signs and use your imagination enables you to picture how once it may have been. Prefered the Agora to the Acropolis as less busy.
