“Walk Back in Time”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

With children admitted for free this is outstanding value. There was sufficient info in the ticket brochure and the signs along the paths to provide the necessary background on the Acropolis so did not get a tour guide. You can not visit Athens without going here.

“A historic visit to remember”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

The Acropolis makes such an impressive landmark in Athens and we were very impressed with the site. We hired a personal guide who had a wealth of knowledge and made our experience a highlight of our visit to Athens.

“Amazing historical site”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

I could see the Acropolis from my hotel room when I arrived an impressive site at night when all lit up. The Pathenon is one of the most interesting structures and the views of Athens from the Acropolis are amazing. You can see most of the major ruins and imagine how it would have looked all those years ago. A suggestion that was made to me that made this visit really interesting was to download Rick Steves Audio guide of Europe on my phone. You can download the Greece, notes and the Acropolis walking tour guide. I learnt so much listening to this as he directed me around.

“Top tips for visiting the Acropolis (Akropolis) in Athens”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

Tip 1: Entrance ticket is 12 euro that includes a few different spots, Parthenon, Athena temple, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Agora and etc. and you can use the pass for 4 days and entering each site only once.

Tip 2: It is very difficult to find the entrance to the Acropolis. You have to pass the Acropolis Museum (separate ticket) and then walk towards the long stretch of road towards the hill.

Tip 3: We were there during the start of April and the sunshine was quite strong. I suggest you put some sunscreen on. Also we realised that there wasn't a lot of tips on the internet advising the visitors what to prepare before visiting th Acropolis. The most important thing is wear a good pair of walking shoes! The rocks on the ruins are very slippery even on a hot day. Some were marbled rocks and some where sharp rocks, we even witnessed somebody tripping and falling over the rocks! So please take care of yourself by wearing a good pair of walking shoes. Bring a hat too if you want to keep away from the sun!

Tip 4: Drink lots of water as well because you will be up in the hill for a while before you go back down to the bottom. Although there are some free water machine at the Agora and a toilet in the Agora museum.

Tip 5: This is the best tip i gonne give you, if you want to know about the history of the Acropolis but don't really want to pay for the audio guide, then download rick steve acropolis and agora audio guide bon your mp3 or smartphone. Remember to bring your earphones! I forgot to bring it and ended up buying a pair of earphones for 7.50euros at the Plaka market!

Tip 6: Give yourself at least a day for the Acropolis sites, they are amazing and filled with loads of histories and interesting stories. Leave the Agora as your last stop because the exit of the Agora will lead you to a stretch of beautiful street shops and yummy greek eateries. Sit down and have a nice cold beer that only cost 1.50 euros and grab a gyros fo only 1.40 euros for take-away (or 2.40 euros for sitting down)
