This is a great site to visit. Europeans are already familiar with historical sites, but for Americans it is even more amazing, walking the same paths that Greeks carved thousands of years ago.
Only drawback for this site is if you are visiting in summer, when cruise ships come to Pireus, waiting lines are enormous and waiting time is long. For this reason it is worth hiring guide, if you are in group, as they can buy tickets and get you in faster than on your own.
But with so many people around it is very difficult to enjoy this amazing site to the fullest, so come in Autumn or early Spring, when there are less visitors around.
