“Well managed site”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

I enjoyed my visit to the Acropolis very much. You can get some wonderful views of Athens after the long climb to the top. I've been to other historic sites and I found this one to be fairly clean and decently managed. There is only one refreshment stand near the entrance (which is good in my opinion) and I'd made sure to bring some water along and took time to admire the path as I made my way from the Acropolis Museum. It can be hot at the top as there isn't much shade. It is better to purchase the ticket for multiple sites if you intend on visiting anything but the Parthenon, or you'll end up paying more... though maybe Greece can use the money.

Excellent but visit very early in the day to avoid the crowds. They are still working on the Parthenon but the details pointed out by our guide were excellent

“How can you not go”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Had a great time seeing the site. As I said in my review for the parthenon it is a lot of walking and was hot even in October, so be prepared. It will require a lot of motivation if you have mobility challenges or you are out of shape. Not many services on top, but does have a WC. My friend and I downloaded a audio tour from ricksteves.com through an app available on the website and it made our time much richer. Lucky for us at the time of year we went it was not crowded. Be prepared for "guides" on top offering their services.

“Get some good footwear”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

It's quite a climb first up the streets throug the Plaka if you are on foot and then the final ascent to the Acropolis fro the ticket booth but it is definately worth it. At first there does not seem to be much there but if you give yourself enough time you can get a feel of this ancient citadel and place of worship. The remains of some of the buildings that are standing and the ongoing restoration works are well worth seeing. One tip is to purchase a combined ticket at the entrance so that you can visit six other ancient sites over 4 days too,
