Great location, all sightseeing, restaurants and shops within walking distance. Nice, clean rooms with great view of Akropolis. Cosy breakfast area, cool rooftop bar with breathtaking view of Athens. Friendly and helpful personnel. We can highly recommend this hotel and we will be back there for sure!

The Plaka Hotel is well located. Our room was reasonably large and comfortable, but the bathroom and plumbing were old. Apparently they are in the middle of a remodel and the new bathrooms are much improved.

They key reason to stay at this hotel is the rooftop deck (they call it a garden, but there's not a plant in sight). The view up to the Acropolis at night is spectacular, and there is a bar up there that opens at 6:30. It's a great spot for an after dinner drink.

The main downside to the hotel was that the front desk staff was not very friendly and didn't appear to be too interested in helping.

We arrived in Athens after 9pm and we were dropped off by taxi just around the corner from the hotel. At first we were a little hesitant because the hotel seemed to be down an alley. Streets with a lot of grafitti..But once we entered the hotel we were warmly greeted by the receptionist and felt right at home. Our rooms were perfect, clean, and VERY comfortable. Breakfast included was fabulous! The hotel did offer internet at a reasonable price but seemed to have some complications logging off and being able to use the same code for a second visit therefore paying more than was necessary.
In the morning once we were able to check out the area and acclimate ourselves, we came to find out that the "alley" we were in had opened up with tons of shops. The hotel was in the absolute perfect location, walking distance to everything, shops and great restaraunts in the Plaka area. Also 5min to the main square along with many main tourist sights. Hotel roof top bar with perfect view of acropolis! The receptionist set us up with a half day tour of the city which was convenient since we were only in Athens for a day and a half.
We had a fabulous stay at the Plaka Hotel and would absolutely recommend to others visiting the area....and I already have!

The Plaka Hotel is situated perfectly to see the Acropolis, near the Markets, the Metro and is so clean, fantastic staff, wonderful breakfast, the best we had in all of Greece. The value also is terrific, and they help with laundry, which is always a problem when travelling. We will always stay there when in Athens, and already plan on this next year.

We only stayed two nights at the Plaka after a visit to the Greek Islands, as our flight home was out of Athens. The hotel was really centrally located and the rooftop bar had an amazing view of the Acropolis. If you are a student traveling with an ISIC card, you are entitled to receive one free drink from the rooftop bar, which is nice considering they are 7 euro! Wireless internet is also available for a cheap rate. The rooms were cute and clean. The bathroom was small but did the trick. Free breakfast buffet in the morning was also a nice addition to our stay. A Starbucks is right around the corner from the hotel, and beyond that is a wonderful touristy area to shop and eat.

Very nice hotel, perfectly situated, close to Plaka, Monastiraki and Syntagma. Dead easy to find, even if its your first time in Athens. Recently refurbished, the rooms are clean and the roof garden was being completed when I was there (May 2010). The staff are very helpful at any time of the night or day. The hotel was on the full side, which is always a good sign, and is good value for money. I would unhesitatingly return.
