“Amazing place, not expensive but good food & wine, friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2013

As in the title, amazing place in Plaka!! Myself and my husband and our 5yo son went there twice within our 4 days stay - that means a lot, I think. and the staff recognized us (though they were busy both afternoons/evenings we were there). traditional music, natural nice atmosphere, not expensive at all (comparing to few other restaurants/taverns we went to in Athens) but good and tasty. Great white wine! so friendly staff! we were very delighted. highly recommending this place. once we`re back to Athens, we will go there at once!
a bit difficult to find but it`s worth to take w while and look for it!

“First time at Geros tou Moria”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Last October I stayed at the Plaka Hotel and my choice of restaurant and entertainment was Geros Tou Moria. Finding it was a bit tricky for the three of us had to climb quite a few steps with restaurants spilling out on the walkway left and right and music blaring from everywhere. We found it and got a comfortable seat overlooking the interior and exterior - it was a very balmy October night and the entertainment was practically nonstop with singing/dancing groups coming and going, The food, though typically Greek, could stand some improvement but pricewise it was ok. Their meze items were fine but the stuffed grape leaves (a bit bland) and the main courses were fine also - it was a hectic place on a Saturday night but the entertainment made it all worth while. A lot of locals were dining and enjoying themselves. We were thre ladies and late at night had to backtrack to our hotel - that wasn't all that pleasant, all the steps down, barely lit and then going past closed shops - very deserted. I would not attempt that climb back on my own without a companion. But nothing happened and I will be back in April, enjoyng it once more.

“Nice and coazy atmosphere with traditional music”

Nice restaurant in Plaka with plenty of platter choices and good traditional food. Prices were a bit high though.

“So many better options in Athens”

Mediocre food, horrible service, smoke filled room, way overpriced. It's a big city, try somewhere else.

“Only go here if you want to dance, not eat”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

I went here because of the very positive reviews here, but I was extremely dissapointed. There was a good ambiance (live band playing, other guests dancing) but the food was really terrible. We came with a group of 7 and started with ordering hot appetizers like we did already several times before. The Moussaka we ordered was COLD, I suppose it was 30 sec heated in the microwave, the portion of tzaziki was REALLY small, the meatballs tasteless etc. The kitchen was also not in the restaurant, but across the street, and shared with other restaurants in the street!
As main course I took the Chicken Souvlaka which turned out to be 4 little pieces of very dry, a bit burned and tasteless chicken (no spices) and some very fat and weak french fries. A real rip off, don't go there except you just want to drink something and dance some sirtaki.
