We could not have asked for a more convenient hotel in Athens. Some friends had been there in July and recommended it to us. They had mentioned some minor “defects” but obviously those have been taken care of, since the only thing that we noticed was the small elevator (can’t change that).
Excellent location, close to everything. Sightseeing, shopping, metro and bus to the airport. Quiet street and safe, also during the night.
We stayed for 3 nights, in the suite of the 4th floor, before taking a cruise to the greek islands. Really spacious room, very modern design. The bed was amazing! The bathroom just beautiful!
The breakfast on the 6th floor was served by a very friendly and nice girl.
There is also a business center and free internet access in the room as well.
Plaka and most of the restaurants are 5 minutes from the hotel although we found some more cute places even closer (many cafeterias across the big church).
For this kind of hotel the price was surprisingly low. I’m more than happy that my friends found it in the first place and I surely recommend it to everyone that wants to stay somewhere nice and right in the center of Athens, without paying a fortune.

Overall: Would stay here again & recommend other to stay here without hesitation.

The address is not on Syntagma Square, but it might as well be as it is only two short blocks away. Staying here really does put one on the same spot as the three 5 * hotels on Syntagma Square and, in truth, makes for a slightly shorter walk to the sites. And fact is, once one has been to Syntagma Square one see's that there is not much to see... truly kind of sleazy.

We stayed at the Athens Diamond Hotel at the start and end of our trip to Greece. The first room (pic provided) was fun in decor ( I think the same as Tomtom12). The second room (regret not taking a pic) was more tasteful (main pic on the TA listing), but both where the same in square footage and amenities. Have to say Tomtom12 is overly picky. Athens Diamond offers spacious modern rooms: hip decor (no one room the same), nice sized bathrooms with glass-walled walk-in shower rooms (no tubs ) \0/. Shower water on the main floor is very minimal and reaches no where near the main area of the bathroom (I won't go into the "it's Greece thing"). The complimentary toiletries are of good quality, the main room area has a dvd player (kind of odd = should be an cd player), multiple-lighting options for the room and some have balconies.

We were more than pleased with the rooms we stayed in. The breakfast offers many items: eggs, croissants, local savories, local sweets, fruits, juices, meats and cheeses. etc. The coffee leaves much to be desired (seems to be the same dilemma every hotel in Greece), but the hostess is highly charming and accommodating. The front desk staff could learn much from her. Front desk encounters were very inconsistent: from warm to brusque. We did not choose the hotel for service quality, but the addition of front desk warmth would make this a remarkable hotel. As it is, it is a very much needed addition to the hotel selection of a very touristy driven city. Book soon, as it will soon meet the rates of the very nearby 5 * options!!!

Athens Diamond Hotel (Athens Diamond Hometel is the sign on the front of the building) is a superb hotel for visiting Athens... and it is near one of the better area restaurants: Tzitzikas ki Mermigas that offers modern Greek cuisine in a very comfortable atmosphere. Like Athens Diamond it is worth multiple visits!

The hotel has a beautifully designed modern interior. It is in an excellent location – walking distance to everything in Athens and all forms of transport (trams, buses and metro) are a within a 5 min walk if you wish to venture out a little further.

The area feels very safe as there is a large police presence. It is also very quiet considering its proximity to the shopping area, restaurants and bars and the main tourist area of Plaka.

The rooms are small but have everything that you need including a fridge with water and a safe.

The breakfast is nice with a good selection of pastries and Greek sweets, rolls, toast, cheese and meat, fruit and tea, coffee and juices.

The staff are very friendly especially Harry who works the night shift and is an excellent source for information on Athens etc.

The interior design of this boutique hotel is one of it's best features. The web-site photos now seem to be actulal rooms rather than artist impressions. Our room had a walk-in shower and very modern colour combinations and light fittings. It also had a wrap around balcony with 2 chairs which overlooked the place where the police assemble , ready for call-out.
It's location is also excellent, as descibed by others.
The breakfast was also very good, probably the best of the hotels we stayed in in Greece this year, but let down by the plain breakfast area which still had masking tape on the windows left by the painters. Other areas had bare patches of unpainted plaster.
The introductory blurb on the website says "The Diamond Hotel is created at 2010 for people who recognize quality and demand excellence in all they do". But in truth, hotel comes nowhere near the 4* rating it gives itself.
For example our room had a telephone but no information on what services could be contacted- not even a number for reception. So when we found the hairdrier didn't work, we had to go down to reception in person. This was at about 4 pm. When we asked again at 6pm we were told that the handyman had already gone home and that he would do it "tomorrow." Note that they didn't get back and tell us that, we had to ask again.
The walk-in shower leaked into the main part of the bathroom and the floor drain was in the wrong place to allow the water to drain away. There was also a bare (exposed) electricity cable in the shower area, albeit at higher level and, hopefully, not connected.
The entrance foyer is very small, inadequate really, if there are more than 3 or 4 clients waiting. It is accessed by a flight of stairs immediatey off the street. Strategically placed mirrors give the impression of space but this is no substitue for the real thing.
In summary this hotel is a triumph of interior design, but there is more to producing a quality product that just outward appearance.

This hotel is just a couple of minutes walk from Syntagma square (the metro blue line can take you from the airport to this station within 30-40 minutes for only 6 Euros). Is also very conveniently located within minutes of Plaka and probably 15 minutes from the Acropolis. The breakfast included greek pastries, crepes, traditional (yummy) Greek yogurt, fresh orange juice among other things (maybe it was because it was a Sunday!). I was very pleased. It also has free WiFi for it's guests and a business center.

On our 5 week trip to Europe this was our favourite hotel! Its a small boutique hotel in the best location in Athens.
Its about a 10 minute walk to Acropolis (make sure you go through Adrianou streets - the cutest cafes, best restraunts and amazing shopping!) as well as being a 5min walk from Syntagma station (very handy if coming from the airport).
The rooms are modern with really funky decor and the softest pillows i have ever slept on! The TV had some good english channels, and we could play CD's but there was no internet.
Our room had a shared balcony which looked onto the street and the breakfasts were fantastic!
The price was great for the room and we were very happy with this hotel, I would definatly stay here again if we return to Athens!

Our family booked out several rooms at this hotel for our stay mid August. This hotel is now one of my favourite in Athens. It is a gorgeous little hotel located 20 meters from the shops on Ermou Street, and a 5 minute walk into Monastiraki and Plaka. Typical Athens hotels, the elevator only holds one person and luggage, but once in the room its worth it. They are all brand new well decorated rooms with air conditioning and soundproof windows. The beds and pillows are AMAZING. I have never slept on such a wonderful bed, and even took down the manufacturer of the mattress. The hotel serves breakfast on the roof every day and has a fairly decent breakfast with both hot and cold food. It even has a juicer so you can make your own fresh juices. There is free wi-fi in all the rooms and internet connected computers in the lobby. I wouldnt look anywhere else for my next stay in Athens. This place is the best. The only downside was we were on the 5 floor and breakfast is served on the 6th, so at about 8am we were woken up by chairs being dragged along the floors, and it was quite loud. It didnt bother us too much but next time we will be asking for a room on a lower level. Highly recommend this for your next stay in Athens, whether it be business or pleasure, nothing beats the Athens diamond for value and location
