“Great Staff,”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2012

Overall hotel and staff were excellent. The only problem with the hotel is the location, and it would have been great to know before planning our stay. Although it is close to most major attractions and metro, the neighborhood Omonia is diffinately not a place that is welcoming to tourists. While walking through the area both day and night we saw people using drugs with needles, and prostitution. While we were there we did not feel safe and actually changed our future reservations based on the location.

Having said all that the hotel is in a beautiful, modern building with all the amenities. The staff is more than helpful and extremely friendly.

Hopefully the government, or police can improve the neighbor and push the crime away from hotel.

The rooms here are a little bit loud, but that is the only negative thing I can say.

When we arrived in Athens we had just come from Turkey (we were in Tanzania before that). I was very, very, sick and we were worried I might have malaria. We were leaving for Ios & Santorini in two days and needed to get me checked out before we left so that I could get meds if needed. The staff here not only gave us a warm welcome, but also helped me find a hospital, write down needed information in Greek, and also offered to get me medicine or anything I might need. When I got back from the hospital (1 star hospital, by the way), they asked if I was okay (no malaria!) and then helped me call the hospital at 11:00 pm to get more lab results. They were, overall, incredibly helpful and went way above and beyond what they needed to as hotel receptionists. Both morning and night staff were incredibly helpful.

Aside from this, they knew we were going to Ios and printed a map highlighted with the best beaches "just because," stored our bags in the basement while we took a 2-day trip, and did several other things you hope a hotel will do but often will not.

Breakfast is good and big, the rooms are comfortable, and it's fairly cheap. Thank you Chic!

On arrival the receptionist gave us a very warm welcome and spent some time explaining the city areas and providing us with all the essential information we needed. I had emailed reservations two weeks prior to our stay to request adjoining rooms for myself and my elderly mother, when I mentioned this arrangement our rooms had already been assigned as requested.

We had rooms 210 and 2011 which are next to the lift, the rooms are compact however more than adequate. The mattress on the bad was very confortable and gave a great night sleep.

Wifi in the hotel is very good, one of the best coverage and bandwidth speeds I have experience in any hotel.

The breakfast consist of cold meats and cheese, cereals, breads, yogurts, fruit and a small selection of hot food, although I tried the scrambled egg twice and it was cold both times, tea, coffee and orange juice are also available.

Now the area, I was well aware from the previous reviews that the general area can be dangerous however, having walked the side streets day and night over four nights we did not encounter any problems or feel in any way nervous, this was helped by the large presence of police on nearly every corner. We found a fantastic local restaurant across the road call TIMOKATAVOROE.

The hotel arranged our taxi for our return trip to the airport at a cost of 41 euro, very reasonable.

I've been in Athens during March, still winter. Room was great, and staff treated us fine. The rooms are really noise though, since it is not such a nice neighborhood (people using drugs and quite dangerous), and we got a room facing the main street.
To avoid problems walking around, follow the instructions the staff will give you upon arrival, and you will be fine, but unfortunately you can't close your eyes and you see people taking drugs, flighting or stealing. I live in Rio, and believe me Omonoia is dangerous, made me feel safer in Rio! So follow instructions to avoid problems.
Breakfast is good, but once the things are over they don't replace them, what is terrible and they should solve this issue. Another point is that you hear persons in other rooms, since acoustic isolation of the building isn't good.
Overall our stay was good, and the rooms were much better than I expected for the price I've paid.

Room Tip: Get rooms in high floors, not facing the main street, because it gets quite noise near to the main s...

The hotel is located in one of the roughest areas of Athens, as two males this didn't bother myself or my partner too much, though the surrounding area was mostly an eyesore, heavily graffitied and generally run down.

It sells itself as being hi tech, though I'm not entirely sure what this refers to, the free wifi maybe?

The room itself was compact with minimalistic decoration, the bathroom was a corner of the room with frosted glass, I don't like boutique hotels doing this. It meant that every splash and turn of a tap could be heard, not particularly nice and this would probably bother you if you aren't close friends with your room mate. We weren't keen, the bathroom should be a separate room altogether.

We got up for breakfast once and didn't bother again, the selection was limited.

The hotel lacks any kind of bar/restaurant which lets it down a little, there's no real atmosphere. Especially the area you have to walk through to reach the bars & restaurants.

The staff were very friendly and informative.

My biggest gripe was how intermittent the air conditioning was, we had to turn it off on most nights as the air was warm, and put up with the outside noise.

Nice enough place, but I wouldn't stay again.

Room Tip: If you can, away from the street, that said, if you keep the window closed, soundproofing is good.

Aesthetically the hotel is very nice, the rooms are both clean and modern. The staff are also friendly and attentive and for the most part have a good grasp of English.

The hotel was also quite basic. There was no on site restaurant or bar, nor were there tea making facilities in the rooms. The air conditioning also failed for us most nights - it deciding to pump out hot air meaning we had to open the windows and the outside noise from 6am onwards was enough to keep you awake with general traffic noise and then street cleaners, bin collection etc. Also outside the room on the window sill was a light that despite closing the shutters and the curtains was still enough to keep the room flooded with light.

The location, as others have said is not very good at all. It's convenient for the metro but that's about it. The area was incredibly run down with graffiti on everything that didn't move. Walking to the main Plaka area and back in an evening felt unsafe with people on the street peddling porn and numerous prostitutes.

This hotel has superb staff that go out of their way to help you. I was robbed on the metro and sorting it all out, they loaned me a laptop to cancel my cards etc ! I would stay at this hotel without hesitation again. Breakfast was superb too (",)
