“A quiet spot away from the chaos”
Reviewed July 22, 2011

Athens Way was a charming, newly renovated hotel tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Athens city. The room was very modern with air-con and wifi available. The room was very comfortable and clean and we looked forward to going back after a long day in the heat walking around the numerous sites of Athens city. The breakfast was served each morning on the roof terrace which was absolutely stunning with views across the city. Breakfast included hot and cold food and was very pleasant. The location was approximately a 15-20 minute walk to the acropolis and 10 minutes to symtagma square. Although this wasn't a big walk in the scorching Athens summer heat it was a little taxing at times. Fortunately taxi's are very reasonable and friendly- to the acropolis 4 euro- a much better option. Overall Athens way offers great value for money! Definitely recommend it. The only issue was the walking distance to the acropolis- but in the scheme of things a 10 minute walk is absolutely nothing amongst a 8hr day of walking and site-seeing.As mentioned the 4 euro cab fare is also a perfect option!

we booked athens way because of the good reviews in tripadvisor. it was really a good stay. the rooms are modern and chic, the buffet breakfast was great and the staff are really nice and helpful.

the only thing missing was the view of the acropolis. but even so, the location was very accessible. it was very close to the national museum and just a short walk to the cable cars that will get you to the highest point of athens. it was indeed lovely.

My husband and I went there on our honeymoon. We were only staying a few days but we were not disappointed. The room was wonderful, elegant and modern looking, the bathroom had a massive bathtub with Jacuzzi and it was all clean and wonderful! Besides, Athens is my favourite city in the whole world!

We stayed at the Athens Way hotel on either side of a trip to the Cyclades (1+3 nights). Contrary to our expectations Athens is not a budget destination for hotel rooms, and we did wonder at the prices quoted for our stay. However the rooms were modern and clean, although the beds were like most in Greece - very hard. Unfortunately though the air conditioning broke down on the last night and we simmered in the room. The windows did such a good job at insulating us from the street that once we opened them to let some air in, we could not get to sleep for all the motos rolling past all night long, so had to close them. As the hotel was full we could not change rooms, and there were unfortunately no portable fans or any other coolers. The first time we called the housekeeping staff who came to investigate demanded to know what we had done to the a/c unit (nothing), but after that everyone was very apologetic and we got a bottle of wine as an apology upon check-out, so that soothed a few ruffled feathers. Breakfast was at a fine roof-top location and included in the room-rate.

The location was also fine for us - 15 minutes fast walk to the central Plaka and Acropolis area. Further downhill you also get the alternative and vibrant area of Exárhia, which is full of young people and fun cafes. One consideration to have though is that the hotel is quite close to central Athens and may sometimes get hit by road closures due to the regular protests. There is a strong police presence in the area and at no point did we feel unsafe.

New, spacious rooms and a great shower. The complimentary breakfast is delicious with a wide selection and a lovely roof patio. The rooms and ambience are modern. Wifi is easy to access and works great. This was our first experience using the card as a circuit breaker to turn on the electricity. A bit confusing at first, but what a great idea and we wish it was used in the states!

A little out of the way. We did not venture out at night, so we can’t comment on what that is like. My boyfriend feels that it would be very safe; however, I would not feel comfortable venturing out at night alone.

Nice place. The location is good--about 15 minutes walk from the Archaeology Museum and the downtown shopping areas. Its a hike to the Acropolis though, and a bit of a walk to the nearest metro station (about 10 minutes). The room was spacious, by European standards, with a jacuzzi tub. A little noisy in my room as it looked out over a street and the scooters create quite a racket. Not enough noise to keep me awake, but not silence. Be aware, the bed was very hard. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is average---cereal, fruit, pastries, yogurt, meats/cheeses--with some hot items, too. I'd stay there again, but might want to bring something to pad the bed!

Fantastic stay. The rooms were very clean and surprisingly very nice. There was also a rooftop deck/bar that is open every night and this is also where they have breakfast in the mornings. The breakfast display was very nice. It has a nice view of parts of the city and great to just sit up there and relax. The staff was very helpful and kind. The neighborhood was also very nice. There are a lot of police in the area which was comforting because some political figure of importance lives in that neighborhood. The hotel was about a 7-8 minute walk from the metro stop. I researched numerous cities and neighborhoods and prices of hotels and this was the cheapest with the best review that I could find and I would recommend it to others. I would stay there again in the future if I was to return.
