“Cheap and Cheerful”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

We stayed at this hotel because Plaka Hotel cancelled our booking prior to arrival and directed us to this hotel as they seem to have an affiliation. The hotel is clean and neat, though the rooms are quite small. The bathrooms are new and clean. We were offered a room on level 8 with Parthenon views and enjoyed the stay. The roof top bar offers a place to socialise with other patrons and enjoy the views of all hills around the city. The staff were extra helpful as they wanted to please us because of the issue at Plaka Hotel, so we couldn't fault the service. The markets outside the front door are interesting, however the hotel is in a seedy part of town and you may stubble across a few junkies at night, though the hotel is safe and attracts respectable clients. The hotel is definitely central to all tourist attractions and you can walk to the Parthenon in 20 mins, Museum in 30 mins and most places.

Room Tip: The larger rooms with balconies are on the opposite side of the Parthenon. So you need to compromise...

Dear Guest,
I thank you for staying at the Athens center Square hotel and for your positive review.
I am glad after experiencing yourself, you mentioned, that the location though it may looks shabby at night, it is indeed very safe and very close to all attractions. Thank you also for your compliments on our friendly staff.
Hope to see you again in one of our properties.

The hotel has an excellent location near i square and is within walking distance to all the sights of Central Athens. It is located bang in the middle of a market. During daytime, when the market is open, the street is pedestrianised and therefore taxis do not drive up to it.It is a short walk though ( approx 50 m). The market sells fresh fruit, vegetables, bread etc in good prices and is a good place to stock up if you are headed for the islands and your accommodation there is self catering as ours was. At night, drunks can bother you though and there are lots of beggars around - be careful. The hotel has a pleasant lobby which is a good place to begin journeys. They were serving free coffee and tea with cookies; much appreciated. Lifts are very small but fast, so with luggage, you may require a couple of trips. We stayed in the acropolis view rooms as we were coming in to Athens. Rooms are adequate, bathrooms are on the smaller side. Beds are comfortable but on the softer side. Everything in the bathroom works fine. Aircon may at times throw up the smell of dry fish from the market next door, even in the 7th floor. Not a problem everyday and after the market closes. The view of the Acropolis is stunning from the 7th and 8th floors. You could also go up to the terrace bar which offers a panoramic view of the Acropolis and Athens. The bar stays open till 12 midnight. I found the staff very friendly and willing to help. A very good breakfast is served in the mezzanine floor. It seems a single lady manages the entire breakfast and she does everything very efficiently. We were given coffee and cakes by her even before regular breakfast time as we had an early ferry to catch. I would definitely recommend the place.

This hotel has some really nice aspects. I really liked the lobby, it's a good place to plan your day and hang out between excursions. The bathroom is small but very modern, clean and had good water pressure. The ladies at the front desk were LOVELY, offering directions and recommending restaurants. The included breakfast was nothing to write home about though!

Which brings me to the not-so-great aspects of this hotel: the bed. Not the worst but I could feel all of the springs poking into my back and hips when I was on my side. Whatever, I finally got to sleep when a gnaaaaaarly stank came wafting up the plumbing and smacked me into consciousness. I laid awake for a good 90 minutes cuz the only English Channel they have was playing a GLEE marathon, which to me stinks worse than the plumbing. Again, I was able to drift back into slumber only to be awakened by what I would describe as the shouting of a man with the enthusiasm of 3-year-old who having just smoked his last bag of crack, found another bag of crack. This hotel is right smack in the middle of the open market area and actually, the other venders didn't bother me at all. Just the one. It was as if he was in my room with me shouting for me to buy God knows what in Greek.
Long story short, if you are a light sleeper, expect a comfy bed or can be awoken by nasty odors-don't stay here. If you sleep like the dead wherever, whenever then you should stay here cuz it's cheap and right in the middle of many of the things you will likely do!

This hotel is located in Monastiraki, so the acropolis is right there in front of u! Got a very nice room with breathtaking view of the acropolis. It was magical! Room was big, clean and comfortable. Service was good. This hotel is centrally located so all the popular sites are within walking distance. The only thing i didnt like was the walk in the middle of the night from monastiraki square. That road is dark and empty. Didnt feel very comfortable. Otherwise, everything positive! Will highly recommend this place :)

The entrance was right in middle of a market place and it so matched the area that it is easy to miss. The room was compact and the place clean. We had a breathtaking view of the acroplis during the day and night . The location is central within walking distance of most popular spots. The staff was friendly and informative. Only negative thing were the mosquitoes at night . The breakfast was good in a pretty dining area. And we enjoyed the coffee down at the foyer .

Room Tip: 7th flr with view of the acropolis

Would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in athens. Staff were really friendly and helpful, great location where you can walk to all the sites, restauraunts, markets etc. plus public transport a couple of mins walk away also. the room was great- 7th floor with an amazing acropolis view, modern, clean and good air cond. Bed was comfy but was 2 beds pushed together that kept sliding apart- the only downside really but no big deal for us. Rooftop bar was great to enjoy panoramic views of athens, catch the sunset and have a few quiet drinks. The included breakfast was awesome.

We spent 3 days in this hotel after having a good time in Mykonos! The hotel is located in a very convenient location. It used to take us 6 minutes walk to Monastiraki Square. The receptionists was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was pretty good. The waiter in the breakfast area was very rude and unhelpful. One big problem that we faced in the hotel was the housekeeping. Our room wasn't cleaned for the 3 nights we spent in the hotel because we used to sleep all day as the housekeeping staff used to leave early. This was the only issue that I faced. But in general, I would recommend everyone to stay in this nice hotel.
