A rather basic memorial, consisting of a series of stones laid out to represent the Star of David. Not particularly well maintained. A little disappointing compared with other memorials we have visited in other countries.

It was cool once we found it but was very hard to find. I was also sad that the locals we asked for help to find it didn’t know it existed. That isn’t the memorials fault by any means just an observation.

The memorial monument was created in 2010, 70 years after the World War II. Most of the Jewish Greek community was perished during the war (out of a around 78,000 Greek Jews, only 10,000 survived). Symbolically, the memorial's site is located close to the synagogue where the Jews of Athens were captured by the Germans.

The monument itself is very nicely designed. It is carved in the form of the Star of David. However, I was sadden to see parts of the sculpture covered in graffiti. In the past, the Athens Holocaust Memorial was desecrated a few times, when vandals spray painted the logo of an ultra-nationalist group on it.
