This is a typical large business hotel. Right in the Centre. Everything is accessible by foot subway or taxi. Approx 40 min from the airport ( flat rate of 38 E w taxi )
It is clean and fresh ( mostly the carpets in the hallways need replacing or serious cleaning ). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Starting with the front door staff. Always there to greet you and get the door with a smile. Help
With taxis etc...
the front desk.. while an attempt at high standard it was difficult. There were almost always a line to the front desk. It also made it next to impossible to get any information on the area. There was a small tourist desk but it was located right next to the front desk which was filled w people so you could not access it and any tourist broushures were hidden away behind ... anyway. The rooms were clean and some had wonderful views of the acropolis. We had booked two queen beds but we were told they didn’t have queen beds so after two nights we were moved to a suite it was nice that they made it right but there were quite a bit of confusion.
This for sure a business hotel and as a tourist I do wish I would of visited for dinner at the room top but stayed elsewhere ... somewhere more quaint and personal. But I choose this.
The breakfast buffet was good. No table service however even for coffe or juice. But that’s ok. Just not what I’m used too.
The one other issue was the elevators. I understand one was broke. For the entire week we were there but even with it running there are no what near enough elevators for that hotel. It could be 15 minutes before an elevator cam leaving the lobby and hallways crowded.
The roof top of the hotel is stunning. Panoramic views of Athens and a roof top pool. We went up every night even just for a drink and the sunset views.
I would highly recommend this hotel for business travel or a novice tourist who feels more comfortable in a larger setting.
Congratulations on having great staff. They truly did a great job.

Stayed here for four nights while on a conference. What stood out was the service level of the staff which was significantly more attentive and service minded than what I saw elsewhere so great job on that. Hotel room was quite large with a Kingsized bed, a small seating area, quite a bit of storage space and a really big bathroom with a waterfall shower. The breakfast and the lunch buffets were both very nice with a wide variety of dishes that would easily cater to most if not all food profiles. The gem of the hotel is the rooftop bar which offers a great view of the Akropolis in the evening. The bar staff, with a few individual exceptions, was also very service minded. The general area may look at bit rough but it is clearly an up-n-coming area of Athens and as such it does have a bit of character. I walked around quite a bit with a camera on my should and never once felt threatened so I think that as long as you are reasonably street savvy you will be fine.

We came here for the first night of our Greek holiday - a stopping off point in Athens so we could see the Acropolis before we headed north east to the coast. Check-in was swish and efficient, and good value too. Our room - us as a couple with our toddler daugther - was fantastic - a lovely suite with TWO televisions, an area set aside for the ready-made cot, and lots of space for us to relax in. Good decor, excellent coffee/tea facilities, and wonderful Korres products in the bathroom. Breakfast - included in our booking - was really tremendous - a huge variety of different foods and drinks. Loved the hotel.

I normally don’t write reviews good or bad. I do 3 to 4 vacations in a year....but for this location I have to write a review....my stay here was worst.....still have to stay another night and had worse and disgusting experience...I DON’T think it’s a 5 star maybe 2 or 3 star..even the area sucks....you cannot walk on any of the nearby streets as it is a slum....u clearly see open garbage dumpsters.
All rooms and hallway smell like dranage and have bad garbage smell...have glass stains all over the washroom tops and tables...and I stayed in there executive suite...cannot image how smaller rooms will be like...
Breakfast was extremely bad...
We called receptionist to advise something and she argued like for 5 minutes -making her point clear.
There are much more better hotels in Athens then this and totally regret staying here ☹️☹️
Will not recommend anyone.

This is there slow season so you may imagine there service in peak seasons (toooo bad)

Dear Guest,
First of all, let us thank you for choosing Wyndham Grand Athens for your stay. We were most disheartened to read your comments regarding your experience in our hotel that was below your expectations. We strive to achieve the best levels of service, and we truly regret that we felt short of our goals. Regarding the location, the area around Metaxourgeio is an up and coming region , vivid, affordable and therefore multicultural and tolerant part of down town Athens with lots of Asian eateries (located on the hotel's street), lots of trendy bars (spread on the streets behind the hotel), a Michelin star restaurant ("Funky gourmet") and some of the most important theatres ("The National Theatre") just a couple of blocks away. Concerning your reference about the bad smell at rooms and hallway, let me explain that we have installed appliances with air fresheners, and is subjective if you like it or not, as our premises are cleaned in a daily basis. For the issue regarding the room size, every future guest is welcomed to check the exact room dimensions at our website before making his/her decision to book a room at our hotel. Last but not least, let us mention that our professional staff directly responded to your request for a room with better view and you received a free upgrade to Executive Suite Acropolis View. Despite the issues that you faced, we hope to welcome you back again in the future.
Kind regards,
Spyros Ioannou,
General Manager
