“There are two 'kostas' places!”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

One its on pentelis 5, the other that's in the centre it's on st eirinis sq!
I visited the one on the sq and the souvlaki was very good and different from the classic souvlaki greeks eat. Instead of tzatziki he puts tomato sauce and if you like spicy pepper. The fries are fresh and the fresh tomato that goes in the pita is freshly cut right into your souvlaki.
It is a bit more expensive and a bit smaller than the average souvlaki in Athens (2,30 for a bigger one is the usual)
A very nice choice for Greeks too, who want to taste a different souvlaki.

I think it's only open untin 17.00 every day.

“Best souvlaki!”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Very cheap souvlaki (about 2 euros each), grilled just in front of you, fresh ingredients, good service! Filled with tourists AND locals. You might have to wait a while during lunch time.

“Great afternoon snack”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Priced at 2 EUR you get the best souflaki you ever had, or at least a very very tasty afternoon snack. Its a small place with no seating inside, but it is located at a cute square with benches and it has its own ourdoor seating as well. Give it a shot, it can get a little busy but it is worth it!

“Amazing find, thank you Trip Advisor contributors”
Reviewed June 7, 2012

Just there on Tuesday of this week. Not easy to find, but search the block, it's there. If you're facing the 5 Pentelis building, it's to the right. Look for people lining up outside. The owner says they're open M-Sat 9a-3p (maybe 330p). Best souflaki I can imagine. Loaded with fresh flavors of parsley, yogurt, tomatoes, meat, salt, pepper, and a perfectly spiced sauce. All for 2Eu. Small, friendly, 2 stools which will probably be occupied, so stand up and eat at the counter, or take it outside. Shouldn't miss this one.

“A great Lunchtime Snack!”
Reviewed December 14, 2011

This place is located a couple of minutes walk from the main square. It's about 200m from McDs and much better authentic Greek food at a cheaper price (2E for Souvlaki).

The food is cheap, filling and excellent quality, and the place isn't that hard to find if you follow your nose and look for the long queue of Greeks gathered outside. When you get there, just go inside and wait. While you're there, people will push past (to sit on the stools at the end or read the paper) and periodically people will walk past and the cook just passes food out to them with almost no words passing between them.

Don't Panic - we saw some (Germans I think) get very upset at perceived queue jumping, but in fact the locals seem to have a regular standing order and the chef manages to keep track of who came in when, and what food they have ordered.

They also have a confusing array of metal dishes on the counter. When you pay, put your money in the dish and the cook will take it with tweezers and return your change the same way (so avoiding having to handle cash while he is cooking).

My only gripe is the cost of Soft Drinks. In fairness to them, this applies to most of Athens. Either High Import Taxes or the "Coke Cartel" keeps prices stupidly high throughout Athens. A can of coke costs 1.7E (that's $2 for a can of Coke!). Combined with the cheap food it isn't too bad.

Highly recommended
