“Well Preserved Temple”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

This temple was lit up and visible from our hotel. It looks alluring at night, so we set out to find it the next day. It's a gem, well preserved and still located in situ.

“Intact 5C BC temple”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

The temple of Hephaistos is also known as the Thisío or Thiseio from the external frieze showing the exploits of Theseus (and Hercules). Entry is through the ancient agora. It is amazing for its state of preservation and offers good views to the Parthenon.

“Brilliant Little Temple”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Sure, the Parthenon is the must-see site in ancient Athens, but I liked the Temple of Hephaestus almost as much. It's much more complete than the Parthenon, and it's surrounded by woodland and gardens, which makes it feel very atmospheric.

I strongly recommend visiting it at the same time that you go to the Acropolis!

“Better than the Parthenon”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

It is in an amazing state of preservation with so much of the detail that the Parthenon lost in the unfortunate explosion in the 16th century

Reviewed October 31, 2013

Better than the pictures of it I'd always seen and not enough time to just walk about and enjoy it....so much to see...
