“Pleasant surprises ”
Reviewed April 21, 2013 via mobile

Very nice and clean hotel with friendly staff. Definitely would come here again.
The hotel is in an area with small streets and 2-3 storey houses. I walked from the metro station and it turned out there was a fruit and veg market on in the street. So walked straight by the hotel without noticing. The reception area looked dated especially compared with the fresh and stylish rooms. I had booked in advance and was shown 2 rooms to choose from when I got there. Both looked great, one on ground floor and one below which was bigger but with less natural light from a small window. Staying in the city for only two nights I took the bigger one. After all I'm here to see Athens, not to stay inside. However the room was clean and very comfortable with free wireless, accessible power outlets, storage, a proper fridge and a microwave.
A short walk gets you to the Acropolis or to the metro to discover the city. Otherwise there are also small shops, cafes and restaurants nearby.

We checked out the hotel on Trip Advisor and we're so glad we booked here in April 2013. We are a family of 5 with 3 teenage sons. The family apartment was spacious and nearly double the size of comparable rooms for the price. Clean, newly renovated and comfortable, the rooms were also quiet thanks to the double glazing on the windows. Rated as a 2-3 star hotel, it is clean, spacious and feels like your own small apartment right in the city.

The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood within 5 minutes walk from the Acropolis. Once there, you can walk down the hill to Monastiraki and Plaka.

It's a short walk to the tram and Metro station which can get you around quickly and cheaply. Free wifi was a great bonus.

Lastly, the stay was made more memorable by the owner, Tony. Rightfully proud of his hotel, he is always on hand to welcome you, answer questions and provide unfailing advice on the location of everything from laundromat to souvlaki and travel agent, all within a 3-5 minute walk from the hotel. We will long remember his generosity and helpfulness.

We had a great time and will be back at Hotel Tony next time we're in Athens!

Hotel Tony takes its name from Tony, the super-friendly owner of the hotel. Not only will you feel welcome from the moment you check in, but staying at the hotel feels like you are staying in an apartment in a city neighborhood. There's a small grocery store within a block, a nice shops/restaurant area three blocks away, then a bit farther on, you're in the Plaka or at the foot of the Acropolis itself. My wife and I loved coming out each morning from the courtyard gate and heading to the sites by foot along the winding sidewalks. The room was nice, too. Nothing fancy, but modern and clean. The bathroom was great. We also had a little balcony overlooking the street, and it was nice to sit outside in the mornings or evenings to take in the view. It's not the kind of hotel for room service and a swim in a pool, but for a friendly, clean, reasonably-priced stay that makes you feel a little bit like you're a local, Hotel Tony is perfect.

When looking for a hotel for my trip to Athens last May (2012), I checked out Trip-advisor and chose this hotel based on its rave reviews. This hotel lived up to everything others had written about it. This family-owned hotel is friendly, clean and well-priced. The best part is its location. It is close enough to walk to the Acropolis, the Plaka and other sites, but not in a busy or noisy area. I really enjoyed sitting on the small balcony one afternoon and watching the locals below. Overall, very nice.

Thank you Tony we had a great time sorry for late review. This was back in September 2012 but more I think of Athens I remember the warm welcome, the cleanliness of the room and hotel in general. In a real Athens location. Its only a 2 - 3 star but we had better service than on the Queen Elizabeth cruise which we joined in Athens. Tony don't work your son to hard he's got many years to look after guests and we want you and him to be there for when we return. Location is great just a short walk to the Acropolis and Plaka.
Dont forget to go to the cafe Aunvaiwv for breakfast with view of the Acropolis.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. We stayed in the apartment with four people and had plenty of space. The location is great about a 10 minute walk from the Acropolis. Great value. If you are visiting Athens stay here!

Brilliant value - big, clean, newly-refurbished comfy room. Friendly, helpful owner, handy for the metro and city centre, easy walking distance of the acropolis, nice traditional feel to the district and plenty of nice little places to eat and drink near by.
