I cannot remember when was the first time I had eaten at Dia Tafta, but it is such a good feeling when you revisit a place and you always eat well and have a good time there. This time there was even live greek music! It was quite a few of us on the evening, so we tried quite a few things, I had the veal steak with freshly made french fries, it was delicious. There were a couple of things we re-ordered, like the scopelitiki cheese pie, and the special salad that they do... Most importantly, it is such a friendly place, not at all like the touristy restaurants around the area (some of which are absolutely appalling...)
And if you can get a table outside, you can do some great people watching, too!

We visited Dia Tafta on our last evening in Athens recommended to us by some local friends. It was really worth it. The service was friendly, and the food delicious. Our favourite dishes were the kleftiko lamb, the chicken souvlaki and dolmades. The house wine was a pleasant surprise, much better than what we had tasted in other places in Athens. This place is centrally located, don't miss it!

I am an expat living in Athens, so I've tried many restaurants in the tourist centre of Plaka, and have found them to be overpriced and tacky. But Dia Tayta is the real thing! Authentic homemade cuisine, they have an extensive menu, delicious appetisers (cheese pie and zucchini fritters are delicious), a wide variety of baked and grilled items, as well a vegetarian options. The Moussaka is fantastic and the Baklava made on site to die for- they are renowned for it in Athens!

We took 35 international guests to dinner at Dia Tayta and we were not disappointed. They catered for the crowd with professional ease and were very flexible in catering to each individual. They were happy for each guest to choose from the menu, but to save hassle on the night we sat down with owner Costa to plan a set meal. We told him our budget and he guided us accordingly, making suggestions but ultimately allowing us to choose the menu. We had 4 appetisers, plus salad and a selection of 3 mains, plus baklava and wine. All our guests loved the food, atmosphere and service. We enjoyed a 3 course meal with wine for just over €20 a head. Each evening they have Greek music, which was not too loud but added to the traditional atmosphere of the restaurant.

We will definitely be going back here! And recommend it to all visitors to Athens, a great restaurant in a lovely area, that doesn't break the bank!

Located on Adrianou St (Monastiraki end) this was our second favourite restaurant after Tzitzikas Kai Mermigas. Excellent taramosalata, yes as good as our mum's and the dolmades were large and delicious. The 'kleftiko lamb' was outstanding and came with delicious lemon roasted potatoes. We had wine and ouzo and the bill for two was about 40 Euros. Excellent value and good portions.
