Green House Guest House
Ranked #4 of 14 Sen Monorom B&B and Inns
Reviewed January 9, 2013

We spent 2 nights at Green House. When we first arrived the receptionist did not know of our booking but gave us a room anyway. It was comfortable enough but very basic.

On our return after the Elephant Valley Project (which is a must), the owner was waiting for us when we arrived back and gave us a lift to the guesthouse with our heavy bags. He was very apologetic he'd not been there when we first arrived as he'd had a bout of malaria. He was very friendly and gave us a nicer double room.

The only trouble with the place is the awful noise of dogs barking/fighting that goes on all night, especially if you have a room at the front of the guesthouse. However, this is common all over the town (especially on the main stretch) so there's not much the owners can do about it.

Reasonable place to stay and great value!

I've had breakfast and dinner here, it's a nice place to chill out. The food is cheap, they have some nice shakes, however you must be lucky if they have the fruit you want and to get a big glass, if you're unlucky you get really less.
They told us we would have to wait a long time if we wanted to eat there, because it was too busy, we decided to wait and we got our food already in about 30 minutes. Only thing is the service, they're not really motivated to work, if you want something you have to go to them in state of them asking you.

We ended up here because this is about the only place in town offering a western breakfast. The other place is Khmer Kitchen but the smell just made us turn back twice. That's a bit of a problem in general in Sen Monorom: the hygiene level is pretty low.
So Green House is supposed to be one of these laid back places hippie style. But it's very dirty. Our table had footprints of one or several of the cats wandering around. We had to insist so that the waiter cleans it. He was very unmotivated and dragged his feet whenever he took an order. His English was also pretty poor.
One option for a Western breakfast would be at the newly opened bar owned by an Australian guy. So far he didn't find a cook yet. Hopefully this option would add up to the ones existing so far. The bar's name is Outback. It's right next to Khmer kitchen.
