We stayed at the Sala (3 families with young children) and had a great time. They really went out of their way to make us comfortable. The food was great, too. Thanks Sala!

My husband and I first went to Sala Samui in 2008 for part of our honeymoon. We arrive late at night but were greeted to a wonderful room which was decorated with petals and towel animals and a bucket of ice with a bottle of bubbly. Very nice...We only had a room with a balcony (not a pool villa which would have been nice for a honeymoon) but it was still lovely to sit out on the massive day bed and read or have lunch on a rainy day. Not a fan of the open bathroom with nothing but a curtain between it and the balcony which flies open with the wind! We had the same room last time and it was still great, and when we mentioned that we had our honeymoon there 3 years before they sent up a bottle of bubbly to say thankyou which was absolutely lovely!

The pool area was nice and at the time we went in 2008 and 2011 it wasn't too crowded but it can be at peak times. In 2008 there were quite a few noisy kids (no separate adult pool, although they did have their own pool villa) which was a bit annoying but only a few times. The pool bar staff were amazing and knew us and our orders after a little while. The restarurant is nice as well but we needed some variety after a while.

Sala Samui is located on the quieter Choeng Mon and is limited with variety for food options so we ended up going to Chaweng via cab or resort car a few times. It is definitely a nice place to stay for a relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: At peak times you may want to consider splurging for a pool villa, especially if there are kids around. Rooms near the front of the resort (furthest from the beach) tend to be quieter as there is less foot traffic.

I didn't stay (although the pool villas look incredible! I had lunch with 10 friends for a birthday. Absolutely lovely food, reasonably priced in a stunning setting. The staff were pretty good by normal thai standards and fairly attentive - could do with more bar staff as cocktails took a while. Food was excellent - both thai and western. Sitting by the sea in a beautifully decorated sala....

I and my husband stayed there for 8 days on November 2010. From the moment we were picked up from the airport by the driver of the hotel, everything went smoothly. We were greeted at reception with a welcome drink and refreshing towel and we were shown to our room which was a Sala Pool Villa. We were not disappointed! The room was amazing and we made the most of the private deck and swimming pool. It was heaven! All of the staff was really kind especially the woman who had 5 children at the restaurant part I forgot her name :)
Their spa was incredible also. We had thai massage for 1,5 hour. You can also choose the taste of your bath every night :) One night with milk, the other night with green tea vice versa...We had taken one day island trip. The driver took us everywhere on the island. It was really great and adventurous experience.
The beach is almost a private beach and the general atmosphere for the resort is fantastic.
Special mention to Chai at the pool bar who always had our drinks ready once happy hour came - he really looked after us! You should definitely try the coconut with milk at the breaksfast, I really miss it.But overall a brilliant stay and would definitely recommend to others and also we would love to return one day! Thank you Sala!

Room Tip: We stayed at Sala Pool Villa. It was amazing. You have your own pool in your garden. But the king suits have a fantastic view. Spend more money and enjoy your holiday at this great island.
