“Very good hotel on small beautiful sandy bay. Great value for money.”
Reviewed November 11, 2011

We have stayed here 4 times over 10 years and you can rely on good service, rooms and food. The bonus is being in Choeng Mon as it is the best small beach on the island if you are looking for quieter location but with good selection of shops and restaurants close by. The hotel has free shuttle to Chaweng daily.

now I am here for the 4th time. excellent hotel, nicelylocated and calm, great value for the money. there are good restaurants in walking distance, massages are on the beach. best for off season visits. certainly a place to calm down and relax.

fast trip to Chaweng if needed but I would avoid.

even during raining season worth a visit.

boat house suites need rennovation, take a deluxe room

A perfect stay at a chilled place with premium standards, you will be charmed by the staff, the hotel area, the beach, the exellent service, please try the Searobin Diving Center 200m left on the beach as weel as the Indian restaurant 300m left from the entrance, best food outside India. We stayed in a boat house, worth the extra cash. Perfect to combine Kho Samui with Bangkok.

Nit noy means a little bit in Thai. But I love the Boathouse hotel in Koh Samui a lot. Have stayed there many times. Some folk commented it's a bit old fashioned, but I think that part of its charm. The wonderful Charlie Chaplin restaurant, which is run by Charlie Chaplin lookalike Chaiya is directly opposite. The hotel backs on to the beach, so you can have the best of both worlds. Sit sipping cocktails at swimming pool bar or go on to beach, swim in sea, have lovely massage, manacure.....Bliss..The Boathouse rules. Me and my electronic repeating parrot Percy had a wonerful time there.

Loved this hotel! Admitantly we did get upgraded (they put us in a double when we asked for twin). We got a poolside terrace and it was fantastic. Room was lovely and spacious, immaculately clean and presented. Big glass window and doors led out to a small private terrace with sun loungers and an outside shower. Less than 10 step from the terrace was the top pool (we nicknamed Monkey pool as there were stone monkey fountains around the edge) - find the buttons which set off the jacuzzi jets!!
The beach is a pleasant walk down past the boat suites and 'Cannon' pool. The towels were free to take and the staff took them down to the beach loungers and got you all set up for the day. Staff were around all day so you could order drinks/food from the lounger.
The area was quiet and relaxing, great beach holiday. Resturants in the area served wonderful food, though one had a grandma 'helping out' so things got muddled up but we were in no hurry and found it a bit of a giggle. Compared to beaches on the west coast which were apparently noisy and crowded this one was perfect.
Would definately go back!

Room Tip: Pool terrace room was fantastic if you can get an upgrade.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 x nights, the hotel is in a good location in Choeng Mon close to local bars & restaurants. The beach here is fantastic with soft white sand and all facilities are available. Because the hotel is popular It gets a little busy around the beach area. The hotel is quite old fashioned but if you look beyond the odd broken floorboard and the damp aroma it is a very relaxing place to stay. The staff are always trying to help but sometimes their efforts are more enthusiastic than useful as an example we had a bottle of wine which was corked, but trying to explain this to the waiter only produced endless smiles...'enjoy'...! The food is very good although the portions for the evening promotion meals are very 'haute cuisne' e.g small...soup should never be served in a shot glass!!! what's that all about!! The service can be slow and the food can sometimes arrive before the drinks but I guess that is part of the charm of Thailand! Would we stay here again probably not but that that should not influence your own decison to stay here.

Room Tip: rooms on the second or third floors have a much better view from the balcony

Comapred with other hotels we stayed in in Thailand, we would not go back to the Imperial Boathouse. We have no complaints about the room, it was very nice, clean with a great view of the pool. Small niggle, it had a somewhat ancient old fashioned TV, which one would not expect from a 4* hotel.

The garden pool was marvellous, used by very few people and so afording a good deal of peace and privacy. The beach was stunning and a pleasure to see.

The staff in general were what you have come to expect from Thai people, courteous, helpful and smiling. On reception, Onn was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

A couple of reservations: the breakfast area like the meals themselves had seen better days. The bar in the main building was not at all welcoming and in the 6 nights we stayed I did not see one person in there. The furniture looked as if it has seen far better days. The bar down by the pool was far better and much more populated.

It should be noted that this hotel is used by a large number of package companies. We counted 16 folders in English, French, German and Russian from companies like Thompsons in reception. In it's own right there is absolutely nothing with this as long as you are aware that this is the case.

On the whole, we enjoyed our stay, but would not go back.
