“A delightful break in Cheong Mon”
Reviewed October 5, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We were a family of 4 with older children aged 14 and 19 so the set up with 3 self contained bedrooms all facing the pool and all that space was perfect for us.

Our week long stay in Koh Samui occurred after 2 fairly busy weeks in other parts of Thailand so we purposely chose somewhere where we thought we could relax and do nothing for 3 or 4 days before picking up the pace again. Samui Blu proved perfect for that. We were picked up by Yvonne and after dropping off our stuff she took us shopping so that we could get ourselves set up for the week. Very convenient and much appreciated.

The Villa is as good as it appears in the pictures and we pretty well lived in that pool and the sala for the first 4 days. The Cheong Mon area was a little bit of a shock at first, there being so many European holiday makers due to all the resorts, but we soon settled in to what we believe is one of the nicest parts of the island. We found some favourite haunts within easy walking distance including a fantastic little restaurant called “Mr Eung” literally 2 minutes away, the “Sala Samui Resort” for evening cocktails on the beach and the “Aroma Boutique” in town for a great morning coffee and authentic Italian made focaccia. Ah … all was right with the world.

We then hired a car for the last 3 days to explore the island, with the highlight being hiring a long tail boat to Koh Mudsum & Koh Tan at the south of the island. Driving in Koh Samui is certainly interesting and if you follow the advice that we got of “the bike is king” and “keep your head on a swivel whilst driving” you should be fine and you will have some interesting stories to tell.

Our other great find was a restaurant called “Barracuda” in Maenam. Not to be missed. Fine dining but very reasonably priced. We went there multiple times.

We found that the 4 days of staying put and relaxing then spending 3 days exploring was a good mix for us – remember that the island itself isn’t very big so you can do a lot in a couple of days.

We loved the size, ambiance and location of Samui Blu and think you would be hard pressed to find better in Koh Samui. Our only concern for future visits is the fact that there is a small apartment block that is being built directly behind the villa. It was in the construction phase whilst we were there and didn’t bother us, however it could become an issue once they are occupied as the top floor overlooks part of the pool area.

Management Response
Oct 8, 2014
We are so pleased that the above guest enjoyed Samui Blu so much and thank them for their review. With reference to the small apartment hotel next door, we advise that it is now finished. The top floor only looks over a minute corner of the pool. It also looks over a part of the sala, where we have now placed a pull down blind. As this building is on the "blind" side of the house, there is nobody looking onto the terrace in front of the house or the house itself which is still very private. Samui Blu still enjoys it views over the palm trees out to sea.
There have not been any complaints from the many guests who have stayed since the above guest (early July) so we are confident that it is not detrimental to the tranquil ambience of the property.

“An absolutely wonderful villa which personal and detailed service”

Group of six stayed for a week. The layout of the villa is excellent and everything plus more the photos on the web indicate. The local manager (Yvonne) even filled up the fridge with supplies (very reasonable cost) before we arrived. Had a local lady come in and cook meal one night - sensational feast that work out to be only $12 per person. One of our group had an accident which required hospitalisation. Yvonne was sensational and went above and beyond including personal transport for friends to and from hospital, arranging extended accommodation until able to fly home, assisted with travel insurance - nothing was too much trouble. Owners Ian and Fay were also generous is assisting to overcome what was a difficult and worrying time. Would’t think twice about staying at Samui Blu again when we return to Koh Samui.

“Concur with other reviews - Samui Blu is fabulous villa”
Reviewed February 27, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

Concur with other reviews - Samui Blu is fabulous!! The house is amazing, open, light and modern. Bedrooms are well appointed around the pool and each bedroom has it's on private bathroom facilities. We rented motorbikes and rode from the villa to other parts of the island but taxis are readily and easily available at Sala Samui resort down the road.

Paul and Yvonne, “the villa reps” who met us at the airport were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The villa was serviced during our stay by cleaners, pool guy, gardener, and Paul and Yvonne. The beach is a short five minute walk away, not too busy and very safe for children,( a bit of a grunt coming back up the hill). The village of Cheong Mon is only a ten minute walk and has plenty of restaurants.

Recommend without hesitation.

“Absolutely amazing!!”
Reviewed November 12, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

I travelled over to Koh Samui in August with my mum and aunt and stayed at Samui Blu. This place is fabulous!! The very friendly and handsome Andy collected us at Koh Samui airport and after a bit of shopping and a fabulous iced coffee took us to Samui Blu. The house is amazing, open, light and modern, the infinity pool was lovely and we spent a lot of time drinking wine and relaxing in the sala! Would definitely recommend this holiday rental and I'm already saving for my next visit. 10 out of 10 :) :) :)

“It's the sort of Villa you dream about on an Island Getaway.”
Reviewed October 13, 2013 for a stay in May 2011

Ideal for 3 couples or an adult family who require complete privacy.
An amazing functional kitchen for the times that you may want to cook your own meals. The Villa has access to nice restaurants around the island.
Bedrooms well appointed around the pool with private bathroom facilities.
Outdoor living around the Cabana poolside with barbecue enhances the experience.
We hired motorbikes and rode from the Villa to other parts of the island to eat, and witness some of the great sunsets.
One of the most relaxing holidays we have had in a tropical environment.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed August 26, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

The villa is delightful and has everything you need for a great holiday. We were picked up from the airport and delivered there when we left. The villa was serviced several times during our eight day stay. The beach is a short five minute walk away, not too busy and very safe for children,( a bit of a grunt coming back up the hill).
The village of Cheong Mon is only a ten minute walk and has plenty of restaurants.
We didn't hire a car as we weren't confident about driving in the frantic Thai traffic, but taxis are easy to find (at Sala samui resort) and the local buses(songthaews) are everywhere.
We loved the pool and sala, so relaxing and peaceful.
The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough to help.

“Home from home in a tropical paradise”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Having done our research we booked Samui Blu from the photos and previous guest reviews. It certainly lived up to our expectations, villa was beautiful, garden and pool fantastic in an excellent location close to the beach and village. A car was essential for us as we like to explore and made full use of driving around the island (you drive on the left in Thailand so easy if you're from the UK). Yvonne & Paul provided an excellent service, there to answer any questions and guide you as much or as little as you want. Great being transported to/from the airport. We loved Samui, very friendly people, lovely scenery, plenty to do and eating out very inexpensive.
Unfortunately due to construction of an apartment block adjacent to the villa, after 2 days the noise became intolerable and we requested to be moved, luckily another beautiful villa was offered higher up the hill and we enjoyed the rest of our holiday undisturbed. The construction noise was unforeseen by the owners and totally out of their hands, we would have been more than happy to stay if it wasn't for the noise. I understand the apartments should be completed by Christmas.
