I saved my Aveda points for the last 8 years! With that I was not sure how any of the week would be. It was great! Our first night we had dinner at Carmichael's -part of the property above it on the hill. Great sunset! We had massages at the Aveda salon, worked out, had great food.
When we would ask for things the staff was very attentive.
My only suggestion -it is off season some things seem to need attention -lights on the path, dipping pool not heating. But really still amazing and awesome!

Just returned from 6 glorious nights at The Sugar Ridge in Antigua. The wedding coordinator, Jolie, is Fantastic! No detail left to chance. She took us into St. John's to visit the Florist, had the flowers delivered, even a floral wedding cake topper that matched perfectly. The wedding took place at Carmichael's beautifully decorated wedding gazebo overlooking the ocean, infinity pool, and the lush green mountains. She even arranged for a full rainbow to appear just in time for the wedding! The Aveda salon did the bride's hair to perfection, a floral decorated cart took her up the hill to the wedding gazebo, then to the beach for unbelievable sunset photos. Dinner at the Sugar Club restaurant was fantastic and then a party in the Sugar Club to finish off a perfect night! You cannot do better than Sugar Ridge!!!

Room Tip: All rooms looked great. Ours was 31 , with a great view. If room's a/c unit is not keeping you c...

We wanted a week away to relax, chill and have good food. Sugar Ridge supplied that and more.
We had the most wonderful view from our room which had a plunge pool.

The staff couldn't have been more attentive, from the guest services to the boutique to the spa and restaurant staff.
We would highly recommend this hotel.
If you have difficulty in walking then its not for you as it's all built on a hill, they do provide buggies to ferry up to Carmichaels restaurant. Wonderful
We hope one day to return......thank you for looking after us SO well.

We have stayed twice at Sugar Ridge and can honestly say this hotel has exceeded our expectations each time.

Accommodation: Rooms are quite small but are very modern and clean, they have a spacious balcony with sun loungers and added perk of a plunge pool if you are on the ground floor, the balconies have great views and slightly better if you are on the upper floor. Rooms have cable tv and ipod dock/alarm clock. The bathrooms are showers only.

Hotel: The hotel itself is just the right size no overcrowding or fighting for sun loungers, they have two pools, one of which an infinity and the view is just beautiful. Sugar club serves great food and drinks but if your looking for something more special then a meal at Carmicheals is just perfect especially at sunset. Breakfast at sugar club is always freshly made and they have a good menu to choose from. The hotel is not easy to walk round but there are golf buggys on hand to take you to and from your room.

Staff: All the staff are extremely helpful and very welcoming.

The only downside but not really is that this hotel is not on the beach however there are a few nearby which make up for this, the hotel provides free shuttle buses to these beaches. The hotel will also organise taxis for you if you want to go further a field.

There are alot of mosquitoes so make sure you take plenty of repelant. Weather both times has been brilliant even though it rains its over in a matter of minutes.

This hotel is just great for a truly relaxing holiday, Antigua itself is amazing, the views, the weather, the food and the people, we will definitley return to Antigua.

This was our second year going to Antigua and staying at Sugar Ridge. We have been married for 14 years and travel just about every year and have never returned to the same place twice. Antigua and Sugar Ridge are the exception. The resort is beautiful. All pictures are very true. The staff is friendly, yet very professional, helpful and informative. This time around we ate at Carmicheal's and the food was delish and the view breathtaking. Breakfast and dinner was at the Sugar Club rest of the time, always yummy! Not one complaint. Lunch, we ate at the beaches.
To address some of the things I've seen written, sometimes service is slow, but not too slow. We ordered room service twice and received our food well before we expected it. Sometimes you have to wait a bit for a buggy, but nothing that made me feel anxious. The shuttle to the beaches did have a schedule, maybe since we were there during the off season, it seemed to always leave the resort in a timely manner. We were told just to give them a call when we were ready to return and I LOVED that. Who wants to be watching the clock, while relaxing on the beach.

I highly recommend this resort for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the beauty of the island. We will definitely go back!!

We have stayed in 100's of hotels throughout the world and found this place by chance on the Internet. Spent 5 nights for rest and to recharge the batteries. The local beaches are from a picture book and the sea is really turquoise blue. Staff can't do enough for you. On the rare occasion service was a little slow, but hey it is Antigua, there is no rush on a holiday like this. No need to add pictures because the web pictures of this hotel are real. Go to Carmichaels pool for real experience of paradise or Turner Beach. If in doubt ask Mr Vorn.

Room Tip: Room 20 was perfect. Close enough to reception but far enough to relax. Nice plunge pool and breeze...

This hotel exceeded my expectations for two main reasons...the friendly and accommodating staff and the ambience of the hotel...it has a very classy, exclusive feel to it which made my stay very special. Although it is not located directly on the beach, it has an ocean view at a bit of a distance and to the south a very pretty view of Jolly Harbour. It is surrounded by lush hills which made for some great photos. Getting to the local beaches was easy, they provide jeep shuttles at regular, convenient, times, just a short ride away; the Nest which is a stunning beach with milky blue water is within walking distance. Also a short walk away is the Jolly Harbour grocery store with a bank machine which was very handy.

I was given an ocean view room as requested, but I wasn't aware that the hotel is located along on a main road so you can see and hear traffic at times. I requested another room higher up the ridge that was more quiet and facing Jolly Harbour and the staff were very courteous and accommodating in moving me, and went out of their way to ensure I was satisfied with the new room. The rooms are as shown on the website, clean, stylish, modern, and they have a beautiful large balcony. Bed was very comfy and AC worked great. As others have pointed out, there are golf carts to take you to/from your rooms but I preferred to walk; it is a steep walk but many guests choose to walk.

Other points of interest, the food was very good at the Sugar Club restaurant, breakfast is either a buffet or off the menu and service was always friendly and reliable. Carmichael's was a definite treat for the food and view, and also had friendly and attentive service. The pools were well maintained but on the smaller side, but the deck areas were beautiful and spacious. Definitely make your way up to the infinity pool as the view is stunning and there are several relaxing spots to enjoy there.

Overall I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel... :-)

Room Tip: Rooms in the high 30s and the 40s face Jolly Harbour and are away from the main resort so are quiete...
