“Close to Brussels Nord train station”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

Our first impression was not very good; we were asked to pay up front for the next 4 nights before seeing the room, but we were able to store our luggage well before check-in. The hallway carpets are in need of a good cleaning; the carpet in our room was dirty-looking, so we were given another room facing the street on the 4th floor. Other than the carpets, we were very pleased with the Executive Double room. It was spacious and clean. The traffic-noise was not a problem, the bed was extremely comfortable, the step out of the shower was dangerously high, so be careful. The room had a safe, fridge (mini-bar), hair dryer, hot water pitcher, and coffee dispenser with one regular, one decaf coffee packet and 2 black tea bags. There were several electrical outlets by the bed and in the bathroom. We didn't have breakfast because of the high cost, but there are plenty of bakeries close by. The location was superb since we arrived at Nord by bus and then day tripped by train to surrounding cities. Rogier Metro is less than 2 blocks away.

Room Tip: Request a room well above street-level or in the back to eliminate traffic-noise.

It's in a good position. Rooms have been recently refurbished and it is quiet. Get there easily with a train from Zaventam Airport to Brussels Northern Station, which allows to save the 43-50 € of taxi. Breakfast is too expensive, as usual in Brussels hotels, but there is a bar just besides the hotel where to have a good breakfast. The only bad thing of the last time was that the wi-fi was only working in the lobby

Room Tip: Have dinner at Brasserie Saint-Germain or the Brussels Grill

The Progress hotel is very well located close to the North railway station and the Rogier metro, meaning that can get around Brussels fast and east from there. The room was very nice, and the bed was so confortable, I almost did not want to wake up to go to my meeting! My room turned to the back of the building, so it was very quiet. I will definintely stay there again, as the price was very reasonable for such a nice hotel.

Very good hotel located close to the railway station and the metro. The rooms are modern equipped with a working desk and very comfortable beds. Even if I had a room looking to the main street it was very quite due to excellent isolation. The breakfast was for the high price not exciting.

I spent one night there and everything went fine. It is located right next to the Nord station and you only need 10-15 minutes by foot to go to the city centre (there is also a metro station 100 meters from the hotel if you don't want to walk).
The staff is maybe a bit cold but it doesn't matter so much as long as they do their job. Then the room was nice with many equipments (coffee and tea machines, mini-bar, flat-TV, etc...). A large desk with a very comfortable chair allow you to work as if you were at the office. Everything was clean.
Breakfast was fine, nothing else to say about it.
The fact you need your room card to basically do everything may annoy some people but it also means no one else than people staying at the hotel can enter it or use the elevator. So I would say this is a good thing.
Finally, I think you can enjoy the massage chairs in the common part of the hotel near the reception!

This is a reasonable hotel for business travelers. The single room tends to be small, but is nicely equipped with a nice chair for work and a reasonable sized table. Nevertheless the number of plugs to connect for your devices (telephone, computer and i-pad) is limited to one. Furthermore in my room there was one that was not working, and when I complained to the reception they did nothing to repair it. The bathroom is clean. I did not like that there is a continuous air circulation in the room that is noisy even when the air conditioning is not on. Some advice: do not try to contact the hotel through their e-mail. I wrote to them 3 times and they never replied. And it was not a problem with the language because once I wrote to them in french to try to get the message through. When I phoned they got my message nicely, but honestly I would have appreciated to get a reply to my e-mails!!!

Dear Rosalia S,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We are glad to read that you enjoyed our cleanliness and our rooms’ modern business lay-out.

Regarding the room size, did you know that for the higher room category we offer a special price when travelling alone? We dearly invite you to have a look at our Executive Rooms.

Moreover, please be assured that I forwarded your remarks to the concerned departments. We will give our best to make sure that these matters will not happen anymore.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back on your next business trip.

The hotel is modern and of essential design. My room was really nice and comfortable. Unfortunately the smell coming from the bathroom was terrible and ruined my very positive impression. I am sure that any plumber could fix that problem in no time (and I did find that other guests already complained about the same issue).
My second complaint is about breakfast: after trying it once, I gave it up for the rest of my stay since the choice of food was basic and not at all worth 15 Euro extra.

I am glad you enjoyed our hotel’s design and comfort. With our personal service we are constantly striving for our best in combining international art with the feeling of being at home.

Reading your comment, I have directly forwarded the matter to the concerned department in order to avoid a similar occurrence in the future.

Freshly prepared and offering a wide choice, our continental breakfast buffet combines several types of bread and fresh baked pastries, cheeses and spreads, fruits and juices and much more..

We are dearly looking forward to welcoming you back.
