When we arrived the ambiance was nice some local sitting down eating there Portuguese French toast, soaked in tomato soup and covered in cheese.

In fact, this is the only thing you can order, but that is kind of the charm for going to eat in a place like this. And in fact it didn't taste to bad.

But, .... It seemed later that day that things weren't that good. Somehow both, my friend and I, had substantial stomach problems. Although they serve quite a lot of dishes the food is not trustable, at least not for our stomachs. And let's be honest suffering diarrhoea is not a price you want to pay for experiencing local food.

Too bad they don't seem to be able to keep up with sufficient hygienic standards

After trying francesinha at 3 other places, bufete fase was definitely the best. Excellent quality ingredients and the sauce was delicious too. This is not the kind of food that everyone likes but once you get the taste of it, you will crave for more.

After a jouney of several months trying to taste the famous francesinha of Bufete Fase, last friday, 31st august, we made it!! And it was worthy to wait all that time! The francesinha is great! The toasted bread, the cheese, the sauce...all perfect.
Don't miss this gastronomical treasure from Oporto.
Bufete Fase is a small place, five little tables but it sure worths your visit. Staff (I believe they're the owners) is polite and efficient.

Francesinha is a very traditional course in Porto, but, I'm sorry, i didn't fall in love with it. probably this wasn't the best spot like everyone was saying. The place is small, dirty and with fried fat smell. The francesinha, oily, heavy and to spicy. bad luck? probably, but sincerely, I don't understand the WOW thing about it.

Certainly one of the best francesinhas I 've eaten! I'm a true lover of this dish and I try as much as I can across Portugal, and this is really typical and really good!
The room is tiny so go for take away if you can. Francesinha+fried potatoes+beer around 10€
