“Great Francesinha”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

After a jouney of several months trying to taste the famous francesinha of Bufete Fase, last friday, 31st august, we made it!! And it was worthy to wait all that time! The francesinha is great! The toasted bread, the cheese, the sauce...all perfect.
Don't miss this gastronomical treasure from Oporto.
Bufete Fase is a small place, five little tables but it sure worths your visit. Staff (I believe they're the owners) is polite and efficient.

“Didn't fall in with francesinha”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

Francesinha is a very traditional course in Porto, but, I'm sorry, i didn't fall in love with it. probably this wasn't the best spot like everyone was saying. The place is small, dirty and with fried fat smell. The francesinha, oily, heavy and to spicy. bad luck? probably, but sincerely, I don't understand the WOW thing about it.

“One of the best "francesinha"”
Reviewed July 29, 2012 via mobile

Certainly one of the best francesinhas I 've eaten! I'm a true lover of this dish and I try as much as I can across Portugal, and this is really typical and really good!
The room is tiny so go for take away if you can. Francesinha+fried potatoes+beer around 10€

“Disgusting”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

All the reviews made by tourists....sorry but you dont know what a real Francesinha is
To the portuguese reviews, probably made by someone that works in this place.

Disgusting place to eat at, they dont clean up for years now, its too small, you eat next to the toilet which smells and there is always someone bothering you to get there, yes it is so small people have to bother you to go to the toilet to go in or out.

By a mile one of the most disgusting places I have been to, if you go there (try not to) dont look at the kitcheen or any detail cause you certainly well feel sorry with your choice

“Fun first meal in Porto”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

Went to Bufete Fase for lunch upon our arrival in Porto. The francesina was yummy and had a great kick from the spicy sauce we chose. Super cold Sagres on tap. The fries they were serving did not look good so we passed on them.
The waitress is super nice and friendly and speaks perfect English.
The francesina here costs 9 euros, way more than any other place we've been to (or seen menus). It was good, but was it that much better than elsewhere? In a city where you get a full lunch (soup, main, bread, drink) for around 5 eur, is this really worth it? Recommended although other places may be worth a try.
