We enjoyed a really lovely few days in this apartment - our first visit to this region of Portugal. Reasonably quiet for this type of location (outskirts of a bustling city) with good access to the city of Porto either by Vintage tram (5 mins) or a 20 minute walk. Nice airy rooms (our teenage son particularly loved his batchelor-pad style attic bedroom!) and a well-equipped kitchen area. Handy supermarket nearby and next to a nice little family-run fish restaurant where the owners griddle their fish in the square.
Lots to see in the area - historic buildings and churches, boat trips along the Douro, Altantic ocean at the end of the tram ride...and or course Port wine-tasting!
A warm welcome from the host (thank you Cristina!) and Miguel next door :-) We would definitely like to return.
It could not have been more perfect, A location that offers a good starting point to all of Poeto’s best locations. It’s on the friendly Cais das Pedras square, that offers a traditional restaurant and wine tasting next door, a quality Pastelaria with excellent Pastel de nata and coffee, a local tavern and a well stocked Continente with good fresh produce if one is up to home cooking. Its also a terminus for public transport.
We were two single travellers and shared a two bedroom apartment (both ensuite) and one with an open balcony and good double beds (one very low). Ample hanging and packing space were a plus. The kitchen is beautifully fitted and easy to adapt to and provides a comfortable lounging area.
Visitors beware: there are twenty steps to the first landing. Another 19 to the landing to the double apartment we shared and another 18 to the upper room. Despite the latter, we give it ten out of ten!
What a beautiful apartment to let in Porto for a few days! This was our first visit to this lovely city, and her apartment made for the perfect accommodations.
I cannot compliment the owner, Cristina, enough for making our trip just right. She has impeccable taste. The apartment is very elegant and comfortably furnished.
The central location is ideal to visit pretty much everything that the city has to offer. Cristina provides you with several useful suggestions for places to go, shop, and eat.
Don't forget to try the cozy restaurant next door - delicious sardines and friendly staff.
My wife and I asked if we could move in! We definitely want to return to Porto, and when we do we will book again with Cristina.
As we were disembarking from our Douro river cruise early in the morning, Cristina very kindly agreed to allow us a mid morning check in which was great. She met us there and gave a great overview of Porto and where to see, go to eat etc. The place is right on the river bank and a very few mins walk to a fairly large supermarket - the Continente. It’s about 15 min stroll into town or there are teams and a bus outside. The apartment occupies 2 entire floors and has a really great designer fully equipped kitchen. There’s plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils. We were only 2 people so although the very modern dining table was relatively small we were able to manage though climbing onto the bar stools was a bit challenging for my short friend! Not sure how well 4 adults would manage with limited table surfaces for drinks, nibbles etc, The helipad is virtually opposite and did present noise especially on the sunny days along with church bells and traffic. However, it was quiet overnight so our sleep wasn’t disturbed. There’s an ensuite double bedroom on each floor - with the top floor bed being futon design so just a few inches from the floor. That with the 3 flights of stairs would not suit anyone elderly or disabled. We’re in our late 60s and just coped!
We stayed in this apartment for a few days during our trip to Porto. It was a great location, with a fantastic view of the Douro River. The accommodations were very comfortable, and the location was easy walking distance to everything. The 500 bus stops just outside the apartment about a block away, so getting to / from the beach was easy. The supermarket was just a few blocks away, and that was also convenient for shopping. Finally, we had a great view of the port caves. Awesome way to spend the day!!!!! We visited three of them!.
Christina was a great hostess, and saw to all our needs. This is an excellent place to stay!
The location is perfect for easy access to Ribeira district and only a 15min walk to historic centre. Located right by the river Douro, so flat walking along riverbank with georgeous views right on your doorstep. The apartment is exactly as described online.
Local restaurants, public transport and grocery store all within 100m.
Cristina, the owner, was fantastic - so helpful and thoughtful.
We loved Porto and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Thanks to Cristina and her lovely apartment we were able to get the most out of a short stay in Porto. The location is ideal, with great views but also easy access to all the best things to do in the city. The apartment itself is bright, clean, stylish and lavishly equipped. The upstairs bedroom suite has a luxurious, indulgent feel to it.
The restaurant beneath the apartment was fine and others a short walk away were too.
Cristina gave us fantastic advice on things to do, places to visit, where to eat, how to get around and so on - she could not have been more helpful.
We had a fabulous weekend to round off our holiday in northern Portugal.
