A beautiful river that runs through town. You can both walk alongside it and take a bothride. A must see in Porto.

A bitterly disappointing experience.
After 2days in Lisbon we were told on our transfer to the ship that it would not be sailing!
What should have been a relaxing top end river cruise on the river turned out to be a bottom end coach holiday being herded by coach to hotels serving very low quality food.
In fact a McDonalds BigMac was tastier than the food served in the substituted hotels!

Porto and the Douro River are Portuguese treasures. We stopped at numerous wineries and charming towns near the river. The port wine, four corners bread, pastel de natas and extremely friendly Portuguese people were the trip highlights.

Lots to see and do here! If you want to shop, sight-see, take a river cruise, or dine! A little of everything for everybody! Beautiful bridges! Numerous historical sights to see in the area too! You can't go to Porto and not visit this area and the Rio Douro! Tons of things to do and all within walking distance!

It's a nice port and has a lot of history involving the wines in the area and the development of the region. You can enjoy looking at the river cruises and wonder or even plan a trip on one. The water was a little high at the time and no boats were aloud to travel on the river, this was disappointing but you can't control the river.
