“Okay - not great, but if you're craving it...”
Reviewed September 2, 2011

We had a craving for Indian food and Lonely Planet suggested this place, but it really wasn’t that good. It was a little overpriced, and we were all pretty sure that what we were eating probably couldn’t even be considered Indian food in the U.S. or India. The one thing they did get right was the naan, which was actually pretty good. If we had known that though, that’s all we would have ordered. Unless you have a HUGE craving for Indian, give one of the other restaurants in the city a try.

“Biased but...”
Reviewed September 21, 2010

Well, I know the Owners...with that out of the way, was impressed with the excellent location, you can't go wrong, like the lady from Vancouver said... relax, watch the world go by....
I am a vegetarian, so we tried a whole bunch of Veggie dishes on two occasions. Very impressed with the service and the quality of food. Salad, Naan, Lassi, Pakora's, channa masala, makes me want to go back.

“Disappointing Indian experience”
Reviewed February 12, 2009

As a great fan of Indian food, and having read all the good reviews herein, we were really disappointed with Real Indiana. It may be that we chose a bad night when Portugal were playing Finland. Certainly the staff seemed more interested in watching the football than serving us.
The service was prompt but cursory. The chutneys/pickle etc with the papadums was obviously taken straight from someone elses table and was half eaten. The main courses were lukewarm, although the flavours were excellent. All in all for the price (more expensive than central London), very disappointing.
Will certainly try the other Indian option the next time we are in Oporto.

“Excellent Indian Food, beautiful room”
Reviewed July 10, 2008

Got to Indiana late in the afternoon and it was virtually empty on a Monday. Sat on the deck outside and watched the world go by. The food overall was extremely good- the pakoras a little dry, but the samosas, butter chicken and eggplant curry were all excellent. The naan bread it buttery soft , and the chapati and chutneys/ riata they bring out at the beginning got our taste buds going. Would defintely return when back in Porto!
