“Nice and clean cozy place,”
Reviewed May 20, 2012

My husband and I traveled by plane up to Porto, car rental was already arranged before hand. Rent a car agent fetched us up and so was given a car, we have to travel up to Galicia and back to Porto. On our 8 day trip from Porto-Galicia-Porto this was the first stop.

Overnight stay in this B&B was a nice choice. It is close to the famous landmark Torre de los Cleriegos so no reason to be lost. The desk officer was very helpful giving tips on which place we will dinner yet i insisted it should be by the river Douro.

The room is small and fresh and clean sheets are provided. Elevator gave us easy access to go up and down. I love this place, though breakfast if simple.

Nice place, small room, good location. noisy at night (weekend), price seemed fitting. Our room was small, clean, with a balcony facing the street. The Pensao is convenient to the train station, metro and buses, and felt safe to walk at night. While we enjoyed hearing the evening tango music or the piano played from the downstairs restaurant-bar at first, it continued until very late. One night the bass seemed to pound the same beat over and over, and our ear plugs only dimmed the sound. Staff were courteous, breakfast basic with varied breads. One of the shower doors was cracked and hard to pull closed. Despite the noise and size, we liked this place and found these qualities part of the charm of the Pensao, of this area of Porto, and of traveling and staying in different accomodations.

Situated in a very central street: Rua Galeria de Paris, that is the very middle of the nightlife!
I stayed there in the week-end (from Thu to Sun) and every night a lot of guys crowded the street to drink something out of the several bars and clubs that fill it.
So there is a lot of noise in the night, but fortunately rooms are sound-proof!
Altohugh this, the hotel is very comfortable, rooms are very clean but small, the staff is very kind and helpful, the breakfast is served in a small room by a waitress.
The hotel is very near to the town center that is reachable simply walking!
Porto is a fantastic and incredible city, full of attractions and this hotel is a very good base to visit them all!

This place has lots of pros and cons, so be sure about what you're looking for before booking it:

Pros:
- Good location
- Price
- Acceptably clean
- Gentle staff

Cons:
- Noisy (at least on weekends, people don't just hang out in the bars, they party in the street too). My room didn't face the street and I'm a heavy sleeper, so it wasn't really an issue for me, but for others it can be a nightmare.
- Small and dated (but if you're going to stay outside the whole day and just go there to sleep, still no so much of a problem).
- The shower was really tight. For me it's OK for 1 or 2 days, but if I was going for a longer stay I would seek more comfort somewhere else.

The major pro of this hotel is its location in the very center of Porto. Accessing to the main Porto's landscapes are within few minutes walking. The room and the bathroom are quite small but clean and quite convenient. We had a room that was facing the street, and though the street is a bit noisy (as several bars and restaurants are located in this very street), we had no problem of getting asleep after walking for hours in Porto's ups and downs.... At worst, one can close the window and open the AC.
Breakfast was satisfactory, and the staff was friendly and helpful and gave us some reasonably good tips concerning restaurants in the neighborhood (though generally food is not one of Portugal's benefits). Accessing the hotel is easy for both people that are using the public transportation (10 minutes walking from the train & metro station, or those arriving by car (paid indoor parking lot is 2 minutes walking far from the hotel)

We stayed here on Saturday night after finishing 100 miles of the Camino De Santiago a couple of days before. We chose it randomly, went out in the evening for a few hours, but got back expecting to sleep but was kept awake by the horrendously loud music and 100s of people partying on the street below. We couldn't close the window as it was too hot in the top floor 'attic' room. Rooms are small and the whole place is a bit tatty. Don't stay here on a weekend if you're not a party animal.

The only decent thing about this place wwas the location. The room was small and poorly appointed- tv did not work and the furniture was sparse and rickety. The hotel smelled of codfish and boiled cabbage. We booked here based on reviews, but the hotel did not meet expectations. In fact it was so disgusting, we refused to stay here and found other accomodations- even if it meant paying the penalty. DO NOT STAY HERE
