Casa dos Loios by Shiadu

Certificate of Excellence

This B & B is a new addition of the Shiadu Guesthouses, with the others being located in Lisbon. We had stayed in most of the Lisbon locations over the years and were always very pleased. Casa dos Loios is another gem! The building has loving refurbished, perfectly located and staffed by the most amazing, caring people. The breakfast features homemade cakes (Marco's chocolate was baking when we arrived-heavenly), fruit, yogurt, crepes, and much more. Snacks and drinks are available during the day. We had the opportunity to see most of the rooms and all seemed comfortable - well thought out.
What makes this place is the staff. As with other Shiadu properties, the staff are friendly, helpful and well informed. Marco, Inez and Patricia are just incredible and we cannot wait to visit again!

A jewel in the crown that is the city of Porto! This delightful boutique hotel was a real find.Located in the heart of the city, tucked away just off a charming little square, its unassuming exterior hides a haven of comfort and tranquility. It is stylishly and sympathetically decorated, whilst retaining the best features of the original house. The rooms feel more like a 4-5 star level and everything is spotlessly clean. The team of professional young staff couldn't be more helpful nor welcoming. They are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble and their excellent knowledge of the area, restaurants, taxi-drivers, etc is real bonus. Their main concern is that you should feel 'at home' in the city. Breakfast is generous and offers rustic breads, home-made cakes, jams, honey, pancakes, fresh orange juice, yoghurt and fruit. You can help yourself to food and drink throughout the day and use the 'honesty' minibar arrangement in the dining room - perfect when returning from excursions around the city. The location is excellent - close to Avenida dos Aliados, S. Bento, and Rua das Flores which leads down to the Ribeira. I would most certainly return here, and am can't wait to try one of the Shiadu chain houses in Lisbon.

Room Tip: Choose the superior doubles. Bit larger and have windows overlooking quiet internal patio.

We stayed here with another couple for from 31/01/14 – 02/02/14 and could easily have spent a lot longer. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms were both lovely and comfortable, not to mention very clean. The location is perfect, situated in the old town it is just a short walk to the Ribeira riverside and all places of interest we visited.

However, it was the service from Patricia that made our stay most memorable, from the late night check-in to the hug good bye. Patricia was incredibly warm and welcoming and ensured our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. We had no itinerary for our stay, but Patricia's recommendations for sightseeing and eating/drinking were spot on and we were able to tick them all off during the course of the weekend making sure our days were filled with architecture, history, culture, gastronomy and of course port!

We would definitely recommend Casa dos Loios and given all of the above, it really is good value too.

Thanks Patricia for making our weekend so special, best wishes from the New Zealand Four.

Excellent location in the city centre close to the main point of attractions. The rooms are really nice, cosy, warm with all facilities you need for a comfortable stay (internet included). There is a nice terrace where you can enjoy sunny days. Breakfast is very good with home madecakes everyday, fresh juices and Nespresso coffee too. Marco and all the team are great guests giving very good tips for food and places to visit.
Highly recommended for young couple looking for high quality standards with reasonable prices.
